Design Thinking 7: Introduction to Jewelry + Metalsmithing
The design thinking 7 introduction to jewelry + metalsmithing course provides an introduction to the design cycle process while challenging students to reexamine designs for the human body. This will be done via in class work days where students will observe demonstrations on proper tool and technique use, draw all designs out for instructor approval, hand fabricate said designs upon approval, all while conducting in class discussions as to what makes a good design. Students will use a variety of traditional bench jewelry tools, metalsmithing techniques, and design strategies to demonstrate their innovative designs. The goal of this course is to leave students with a design thinking mindset that is necessary for the 21st century citizenry.
