UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH GRANT
Madhusmita Devi and Prerona Barman of 5th semester received the Centenary Decade Undergraduate Research Grant for their project titled Creating a 'Home' in the City through Food: Belongingness in Humayunpur under the mentorship of Dr Rituparna Patgiri.
Ananya Sharma and Vanya Jain of 3rd semester received the Centenary Decade Undergraduate Research Grant for their project titled Deaths during the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Ethnographic Study of Disenfranchised Grief under the mentorship of Dr Priya Ranjan.

Anandita Kumari won first prize in the treasure hunt competition organized by the Eco Club of IPCW on 21st March 2022.
Amisha Singh of 2nd year was part of the team that won first position in the cricket competition that was organized during Tejas - the annual sports event of IPCW on 27th April 2022.
Palak Singh of 3rd year won first prize in Indepedia 2.0: The Epic Indian Saga organzied by Quest: The Quizzing Society, College of Vocational Studies (CVS), Delhi University (DU) on 16th November 2022.
Sarah Shaan of 3rd year was awarded a free International Sociological Association (ISA) Membership Grant in December 2022 for her commitment towards research and community service at the undergraduate level.
Sudiksha Samanta's of 3rd year published an essay titled Reflections of an Undergraduate Sociology Student in Applied Worldwide on 9th December 2022.

The Department of Sociology, IPCW won 1st prize in the inter-department cricket competition organized by the IPCW Sports Union on 17th February 2023.
Ananya Sharma (2nd year) won 3rd prize in Alacrity, the annual flagship conventional debate organized by the College of Vocational Studies (CVS), University of Delhi on 11th April 2023.
Kritika Banerjee (2nd year) secured second position in the paper presentation competition (Utopia'23) organized by the Department of Sociology, Miranda House, University of Delhi on 19th April, 2023. She presented a paper titled Frame of Fame: The Authenticity behind Influencer Culture on Instagram.
Kritika Banerjee (2nd year) has been chosen for the Vice Chancellor's Internship Scheme (VCIS) 2023. She is the only Sociology student out of all DU colleges and one of the only three students from IPCW to have been selected for the prestigious VCIS.

PROJECT KHAIRIYAT
Project Khairiyat has been started by a group of 3rd year BA Honours Sociology undergraduate students under the UN Millennium Fellowship and United Nations Academic Impact. This project aims to work on SDG 3 - Good Health and Wellbeing.

COLLEGE EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2019
Rhea Jain, a Final Year student of the Department of Sociology, was awarded the Smt. Mohini Virendra Singh Award for All-Round Excellence instituted by Mrs. Mira Pradeep Singh. Rhea has maintained a consistently good academic record and has excelled in several extra-curricular activities. She has presented academic papers and has an ethnographic film to her credit for which she received an award. Her work with the NGO Pratham has been impressive, demonstrating her willingness to engage with social issues. As a former student president of the department academic society Hypatia, she initiated a number of activities which have since then become integral to the functioning of the Department.

STUDENT PRIZES AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
1. Devanshi Srivastava, student of BA(H) Sociology Second Year, presented her paper titled “Now Mother, Once Daughter: Mother-Daughter Relationships amidst Domestic Violence” at Jesus and Mary College’s Research Conference organised by their Woman’s Study Center and won the prize for best paper in her section. Apart from this, Devanshi also presented her paper “Mother Daughter Relationships amidst Gendered Domestic Violence: A Cinematic Analysis” at O.P. Jindal’s Third Annual Undergraduate Research Conference 2019. She also won 1st prize in ‘Rangeen Syahi’ an inter-college poetry cum painting competition.
2. Bhuvna Arora, BA(H) Sociology Second Year, presented her paper titled ‘Fanatomy: Studying the Micro-Celebrity Fan Culture of Youtube’at O.P. Jindal’s Third Annual Undergraduate Research Conference 2019.
3. Muskan Sinmhar, BA (H) sociology Second Year, presented her paper titled “The Question of Identity: A Study of North East students in Delhi University” at O.P. Jindal’s Third Annual Undergraduate Research Conference 2019. Muskan also presented her paper at Jesus and Mary College’s Research Conference organised by their Women’s Study Centre.
4. Bhuvna Arora and Sandra Elizabeth Joseph, students of the department, received participation certificates for taking part in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (CIDS) student-seminar series on 'The Great Reservation Debate' on the debates around caste-based reservation in higher education, political representation and government jobs in India.
5. Raagini Bora, BA (H) sociology Second Year, has done a research project on the Sociology of Gender and subsequent literature review alongside Dr. Sawmya Ray at the Department of Sociology, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.
6. Anoushka Pawar, BA (H) sociology Second Year, who had been a long-term mountaineer participated in the Skiing Nationals in Gulmarg, Indian Institute of Skiing, Govt. of India. She also took part in the Winter Skiing Expedition and skiied down for 30 kms from second phase Gulmarg.
7. Raagini Bora won the first prize at Lady Hardinge Medical College, Deen Dayal Upadhyay College and achieved second prize at Akhilesh Das Gupta Institute of Management and Technology College as a part of the western choir group of Cadenza. She also held the post of President of Cadenza Society for 2018-19.
8. Rhea Jain, Vrinda Dabas, Amrita Sivaram and Bhuvna Arora (Second year students) won third prize in the Short Film Competition organised by the Sociology Department as part of its annual festival- Prism’19.
9. Deepali Chaudhary, first year, achieved the 2nd position in the abstract painting competition organised by Shri Ram College of Commerce. She also received the 1st position in wall-painting organised by IIITD.
10. Rolishree Tiwari, first year, has won a swimming competition at the college level.
11. Aashi Pareekh, first year, was a teacher volunteer at the Wordsworth Project and was awarded the 'star volunteer of the month' during the internship.
12. Piyushaa Hazarika, first year, has been an active member of Alaap, the Indian Music Society of the college. She has also won the first prize in the Indian choir competition in SGND Khalsa college, Ramjas college and Daulat Ram College and has also been placed second in BR Ambedkar college.
13. Preeti Meel, first year, participated in a competition held by Kirori Mal College’s Physics Society-TACHYON and ranked first.
STUDENT INTERNSHIPS
1. Proiti Das (Second Year) has worked as a volunteer-teacher and operations head manager with the Wordsworth Project between August 2018 to April 2019. She worked as a reporter-journalist (Summer Intern, June-July, 2019) with The Citizen- India’s first independent digital daily.
2. Rhea Jain (Second Year) has interned at Pratham Educational Foundation both in the winter and in the summer break 2018-2019.
3. Priya Sarma, (second year) has worked as a research intern with The Kootneeti. She has also worked in a Youth Marketing Programme at Cashkaro. Priya has also interned with The Assam State Commission for Women in the summer 2019.
4. Nivedita Singh Parmar (Second year) has interned with the Mash project. She has also worked with the 'Rapporteur in India Volunteering Conclave 2019' (United Nations Volunteers India).
5. Anisha Banerjee (second year) worked as sub-editor in the Editorial Board of Oghma: English Editorial Society of Indraprastha College for Women.
6. Apoorva Srivastava, second year, interned for 1 month at the All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT) , Bhopal during May-June 2019.
7. Amrita Srivaram, second year, interned with Child Rights and You (CRY) during the summer 2018. She headed a grassroots NGO project- Navshrishti, in Nangloi Jat village in Delhi. She also worked as a junior analyst with Qrius (August- December 2018). She also worked with MASH project foundation for the Ashoka Changemaker project- as a collaboration with MASH project (August- December 2018).

STUDENT PRIZES AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
1. Rhea Jain presented her paper titled “Delhi Metro as a social system and it’s seat giving patterns” at O.P. Jindal’s Second Annual Undergraduate Research Conference 2018.
2. Devanshi Srivastava completed a two month long, film based research program under the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on the theme of ‘Intersectionality of Caste and Gender’. Her paper was titled ‘The Ambivalence of Viramma: From the Personal to the Political’.
3. Anoushka Pawar, first year student, has bagged the second prize in the National level Mountain climbing competition.
4. Raagini Bora and Shreya Chakraborty won the first prize in Maulana Azad Medical college, Jamia Milia Islamia and achieved a special mention in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College as part of the western choir group of Cadenza.
5. Rhea Jain, an active member of the English Debating Society of IPCW participated in over 10 inter-college parliamentary debates both at the national and university level, qualifying as both, debater and an adjudicator. She has been a part of the organizing team of ‘Vivaad’, the inter-college parliamentary debate of IPCW.
