• Close your eyes and lie on the ground for 5 minutes. Then tell someone else what you heard. Describe the sounds using words such as high/low, fast/slow, loud/soft, long/short, smooth/choppy.

  • Make up a song, by yourself or with others, that uses items found in your house that make interesting sounds. Weave in different rhythmic patterns and a variety of different sounds (such as wooden, metal, scrapy, or shaky).

  • Go outside and listen (perhaps even blindfolded). Move and dance in response to what you hear.

  • Create a dance that expresses your feelings. Post it to your class, if you like.

  • Talk with adults in your household about the music they listened to when they were growing up.

  • Take a silent walk with someone in your household who you feel comfortable holding on to, while blindfolded. Walk for 10-20 minutes. Then, take off your blindfold and describe what you heard, and how it felt. Switch roles.
