The King of Rock
On the morning of the 22nd of April, we went to see a musical about Elvis Presley. The title was “The King of Rock”, like the singer’s nickname, and it was entirely in English.
We went to Concordia Theatre accompanied by our teachers and we sat down waiting for the musical to begin.
It started showing us the actors: they were five, so they had to switch roles at one point.
At first, one of the actors talked about the plot of the musical, then the lights turned off and an announcer appeared, who introduced us to Elvis Presley.
He started talking about his life and after that he went off and a couple took his place: they were Presley’s parents. His “father” started singing a song while his “mother” was holding Elvis.
In the next scenes there was him singing all around the stage with his fans.
Then, there was a change of setting: Elvis joined the army and, while other soldiers were training, he was singing happily…until the sergeant came next to him and gave him a letter that said that his mother had died. He became very sad and started singing one of his famous songs, “That’s All Right Mama”.
In the next scene, we could see him and a girl named Priscilla: they fell in love and later became husband and wife.
The musical ended with the death of Elvis, who unfortunately was still very young.
The actors were funny and convincing and we had the chance to ask them some questions about their job and take selfies with them.
