SUMMER 2026 - INTERNATIONAL STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
‘Iolani Summer Programs welcomes visiting international students for an engaging and enriching experience on the ‘Iolani School campus! Students attending school outside the United States are considered international students, including US passport holders attending school abroad.
Applications Open: Tuesday, February 24, 2026
Application Deadline: Thursday, April 30, 2026
Application Fee: $25
Register online for classes on or after the assigned Registration Appointment Date on or after March 18, 2026
ELIGIBILITY
AGE: Students attending school during the regular school year outside the United States must turn 7 (seven) years old before June 15, 2026
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: Students must possess a proficient level of English comprehension and communication to participate in summer courses
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
To ensure a safe and enriching summer experience, International students must possess a proficient level in English. Students must be able to comprehend and communicate verbally, independently and clearly in English, and complete cognitively demanding work in the content areas at the appropriate grade level in English. No accommodations will be made for English Language Learners.
Grades 2-6 students are required to upload a Student Video Statement.
Grades 7-12 students are NOT required to submit a Student Video Statement, however, they are expected to possess English proficiency.
The Summer Programs Office may contact you if further information is required for proof of English proficiency
APPLICATION PROCESS
Upload Application documents to the student account on the registration portal starting February 24, 2026
Copy of the Student’s Valid Passport (grades 2-12)
Student Video Statement (grades 2-6)
Application Fee $25
Allow up to ten (10) business days for review
Receive Email Notification of eligibility status; eligible students will be assigned a Registration Appointment Date
Select Classes: Eligible students may enroll on or after the Registration Appointment Date for courses in the grade level they will enter in the 2026-27 school year
Registrations received prior to the Registration Appointment Date will result in classes being dropped, and incur a $25 early registration processing fee
LOCAL CONTACT INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS
In June, the Summer Programs Office will email a Local Contact Form which all registered international families must complete to follow the safety guidelines:
Provide local Hawai‘i address
Provide phone number with U.S. area code that will be in possession by parent or guardian
Phone Numbers must be verified by the Summer Office for your child to be cleared to attend classes
Have access to a car or transportation in order to pick up your child when the school notifies you
Be within 20 minutes driving distance from ‘Iolani
**In the interest of student safety, if at any time during the program you or your emergency contacts are unavailable or do not respond to our calls, your child will not be allowed to attend classes until we have a confirmed contact.
VISA AND TRAVEL INSURANCE
Please check with your home country on visa requirements for travel to the United States and personal travel insurance.
NOTE: Summer Residential Programs will not be offered in Summer 2026
