LS Hula Wahine at 2022 Spring Hoʻike
Hula is such a special and beautiful art form! The Lower School hula class welcomes students of all levels of experience. The goal of the class is to deepen students' appreciation and love for this ancient art form. Students will learn not only to dance, but will also learn about the the Hawaiian culture and language.
Aunty Lehua was born and raised in Kailua, with her hula roots dating back to her great grandmother, Hooulu Davis. Kumu Lehua’s formal training began at the age of four under Kumu Ellen Puka’ikapuaokalani Castillo. As an award winning kumu, she has taught everyone from children to seniors. She has also served as a judge at the Ibusuki Hula Festival for many years and has had the opportunity to perform around the world in numerous cities across Japan, the Sydney Opera House, London, New Zealand, and many more.
