4K Classroom Guidance

I meet with the 4K classes on a bi-weekly rotation for 15 minutes. During our time together we talk about many different things. This year we will be reading books from the Being the Best Me series. The titles are listed below. We will also be watching short videos and will usually wrap up with an activity.

  • Grow Strong!
  • Forgive and Let Go!
  • Bounce Back!
  • Feel Confident!
  • Dream On!
  • Stand Tall!
  • Have Courage!
  • Be Positive!

Additional Information:

From the author of the popular Learning to Get Along® books comes this one-of-a-kind character-development series. Each of the eight books in the series helps children learn, understand, and develop attitudes and character traits that strengthen self-confidence and a sense of purpose.

Children will relate to the engaging illustrations, real-life situations, and easy-to-understand examples. Each book focuses on specific attitudes or character traits—optimism, self-esteem, assertiveness, resilience, integrity, forgiveness, goal-setting, and self-care. Also included are discussion questions, games, activities, and additional information adults can use to reinforce the concepts children are learning. Filled with diversity, these read-aloud books will be welcome at school, at home, and in childcare settings.

We will also be reading books from the Our Emotions and Behavior series. The titles are listed below:

  • I Want to Win!
  • I Hate Everything!
  • But What If?
  • Who Feels Scared?
  • I'm Not Happy
  • I Don't Want to Be Nice!
  • I Didn't Do It!
  • Take a Deep Breath
  • But Why Can't I?
  • Not Fair, Won't Share

Additional Information:

Small children have big feelings. The Our Emotions and Behavior series uses cheerful, vividly illustrated stories to help kids understand how their feelings and actions are related—and how they can get better at managing both. At the end of each book, a two-page series of pictures invites kids to tell a story in their own words. A special section for adults suggests discussion questions and ideas for guiding children to talk about their feelings.
