Silver City has always been shaped by its landscape, its history, and the people who call it home. From its historic downtown and vibrant arts community to its neighborhoods nestled against the Gila and surrounding hills, the Town continues to evolve. The Comprehensive Plan looks ahead 20 years and asks how we honor that character while preparing for change. It weaves together community voices, local data, and shared values to create a clear path forward for housing, economic opportunity, infrastructure, open space, and quality of life. 

This plan is more than a document, it’s Silver City’s long-range guide for action and decision-making. Town leaders will use it to shape policies, prioritize projects, pursue funding, evaluate new development, and invest in infrastructure. It helps ensure that day-to-day decisions reflect the community’s long-term vision, balancing growth with preservation and protecting what makes Silver City unique for generations to come. 

Silver City adopted its last Comprehensive Plan in 2017, setting a strong direction for growth and community investment. Since then, the community has experienced new opportunities and new challenges, from housing affordability and economic shifts to infrastructure needs and environmental resilience. This update reflects on what has been achieved, listens again to community priorities, and builds on that foundation to guide the next chapter of Silver City’s story.
