2024 Competition Events
March 8 - 10, 2024 in Bridgewater, MA
Lakerbots left our first event of the season ranked 32 out of 36 teams. Issues with our intake stemmed from our practice match and led to several difficulties throughout the event, but the team pushed forward with determination. Although we did not compete in playoffs, the Lakerbots had fun and learned what improvements needed to be made in order to excel in our next event at UNH (which we are very excited for!!)
March 28 - 30, 2024 in Durham, NH
The team's hard work after BSU evidently paid off as the UNH event was a great success for the Lakerbots. Percival performed well throughout the vast majority of the qualifications, placing us 9th out of 35 teams and securing us a spot as the 7th seed alliance captain in playoffs. Competing alongside our other alliance members, 8046 made it all the way to the semifinals before being eliminated. Overall, the team accomplished great work and made a huge comeback from our first event. Because of our team's determination and performance in this event, the Lakerbots qualified for NE District Champs!
April 3 - 6, 2024 in Springfield, MA
The Lakerbots attended the 2024 New England District Championships this year! The Lakerbots have improved significantly since their first competition and were doing great! We had some difficulties in our last two matches but ended with a 7-5-0 record which ended us 19/48 teams. The Lakerbots were not initially picked in the playoffs but were the number 1 backup robot. The Lakerbots got called in on the first alliance for match 13. The first alliance won and made it to the finals! They had a good first match, but our alliance partner did not make it to the field in time for the second, the third was then a replay extending the playoffs to four matches! The first alliance fought it out with the second alliance but unfortunately came out short. The Lakerbots had a good season with their robot Percival! Thank you 125 Nutrons, 3467 Windham Windup, and 5459 Ipswich Tigers for letting us join your competitive alliance!

The Lakerbots had a blast at the 2024 Summer Heat event. Competing with both of their robots, the Lakerbots were able to jumpstart the Girls Behind the Glass program they hoped to run in the fall. The Lakerbots second robot finished in 4th and became the 3rd alliance captain allowing them to work with 133 and 172, to make it to the 3rd round of the playoffs. The Lakerbots primary bot did not rank as high but was also able to make it into the playoffs as the first pick of the 8th alliance.
October 19th, 2024 in Plymouth, NH
The Lakerbots competed at the annual Governors Cup competition at Plymouth State University on October 19th. Our robot, Percival, ranked 17th and we were the first pick of Alliance #5 with Team Captain #8708, Ov3R1y K0Mp13X and Team #501.The Lakerbots also had a table set up displaying our Girls Behind the Glass (GBtG) project, which was a female led, off-season, 2nd robot build. We were able to talk to a lot of teams, students, and WMUR about the impact and reason behind this inspiring project along with the upcoming first ever GBtG event co-hosted by Lakerbots and Team 319!
At the event, the Governor's Cup was awarded to three (3) teams for promotion of STEM within their communities, technical skill and team values. The Lakerbots were honored to be one of the recipients of this prestigious award. Here is what the judges had to say: "This team embodies the message and values of FIRST by their outreach efforts and their enthusiasm for STEM. This team is extremely well-rounded, from building multiple robots to creating a wide variety of outreach events, they not only helped grow their team but, but they created other opportunities for other teams to succeed as well. You'll see them around the trails, but theirs nothing "loony" about them. Let's give them a big, green thumbs up!".
November 2024 TBD
The inaugural Girls Behind the Glass event in 2024 welcomed 18 all-female drive teams for a day dedicated to competition, collaboration, and celebrating the role of young women in STEM. The Lakerbots’ all-girls drive team placed 4th overall and advanced to the third round of playoffs, demonstrating the impact of inclusion, mentorship, and hands-on experience in robotics.
What made the event truly special was the atmosphere—filled with energy, encouragement, and teamwork. It was inspiring to see female students helping and supporting each other throughout the day, and the smiles on their faces made it clear just how meaningful this experience was for everyone involved. Girls Behind the Glass is more than just an offseason event—it's part of a growing movement to empower the next generation of STEM leaders.
