Station 6

HOW DO WE GET JOBS AND BUILD BUSINESSES AS GROWERS?

In conversations with growers and stakeholders, many people have identified the lack of job opportunities (with meaningful benefits) and the lack of business support for growers interested in starting an agriculture-related business as barriers to those wishing to pursue a career in urban agriculture. To work toward tearing down those barriers and bolstering support, TELL US ABOUT THE CHALLENGES YOU HAVE FACED and SHARE YOUR IDEAS AND ASPIRATIONS.

This station has two sections; please participate in one or both:

SECTION 1: Helping people get local jobs and build careers in agriculture-related fields

Agriculture-related fields include growing food or other crops, raising animals, running a market farm, composting, seed keeping and selling, green building on farms, and making value-added products such as dried herbs, natural beauty products, jams and jellies, hot sauce, pickles and other products from agricultural products, among other business opportunities.

You will be able to explain your answers in more detail below.
