Uma is passionate about mitigating the negative effects of litigation on the lives and financial health of its participants. She has over three decades experience as a barrister working in areas of crime, family, employment and general litigation law and has benefited from acting as a trade union officer in employment disputes. She has negotiated to resolve personal and employment conflicts. Throughout her career, she has honed her communication skills to effectively persuade, negotiate and facilitate agreements with various stakeholders, including judges, juries, colleagues, clients and litigants in person. This extensive experience has led to her conviction that individuals seek certainty and direct involvement in resolving their own issues.
In 2014, she moved to San Francisco and became a qualified mediator through an Accredited Mediation Course by the San Francisco Bar. This experience highlighted the significant impact of cultural nuances on communication, underscoring the power of effective inter party communication in dispute resolution. Building on her American Mediator experience she trained in the UK and is registered with the UK Civil Mediation Council.
Her unique communication and interpersonal skills are invaluable in dealing with both complex commercial disputes and more personal conflicts.
