Terms of Service & Customer Agreement
Terms of Service & Customer Agreement
Welcome to Installer of Things. By requesting, booking, or paying for services provided by Casey King (sole proprietor operating as Installer of Things), you (the "Customer") agree to be bound by the following terms, conditions, and operational policies. [1]
1. Scope of Services & Licensing Boundaries
Installer of Things provides specialized, flat-rate or hourly, appliance installation, smart home setup, and general technical handyman services. To ensure absolute transparency and strict compliance with North Carolina state laws, the Customer acknowledges and agrees to the following regulatory limitations: [1]
No General Contractor License: Under NC Law, project costs (labor and materials) exceeding $40,000 require a licensed General Contractor. Installer of Things strictly performs smaller-scale installations and minor repairs well under this limit. [1]
No Plumbing License (Minor Swaps Only): I do not alter core plumbing systems, run new drain lines, or cut mainline pipes. We legally perform "like-for-like" plumbing fixture replacements (such as replacing an existing sink faucet, dishwasher, or garbage disposal) using existing, functional water shut-off valves. [1]
No Electrician License (Minor Swaps Only): I do not run new electrical circuits, install new breaker boxes, or route wiring behind drywall. We legally perform "like-for-like" electrical fixture and appliance swaps (such as replacing a garbage disposal, dishwasher, microwave, smart lock, or smart thermostat) utilizing pre-existing, code-compliant outlets, junction boxes, and wiring. [1]
2. Best Practices & Worksite Requirements
To deliver a clean, careful, and high-quality installation, Installer of Things adheres to strict industry best practices. The Customer must ensure the following conditions are met prior to my arrival:
Working Utilities: Electricity and water must be completely turned on and accessible to the job site.
Functional Shut-Offs: For dishwashers, disposals, and faucets, the local water shut-off valves underneath the sink must be functional and completely rust-free. If a valve is frozen or broken, work will be paused until the Customer hires a licensed plumber to replace the faulty components.
Code-Compliant Wiring: Existing electrical outlets and wiring must meet current local safety standards. I reserve the right to decline any installation if the existing wiring is visibly deteriorated, unsafe, or non-compliant.
3. Pricing, Payments, & Cancellations
Flat-Rate or Per-Hour Up-Front Pricing: All installation rates are presented clearly and up-front before work begins. Quotes assume standard, code-compliant existing conditions. If hidden issues are discovered (such as rotted wood, unexpected wiring faults, or corroded pipes), pricing may be adjusted via mutual agreement.
Payment Terms: Payment is due strictly upon the completion of the installation. I accept Cash, Major Credit Cards, and digital/mobile payments. [1, 2]
Materials: Unless explicitly agreed upon otherwise, the Customer is responsible for purchasing and supplying the core fixture or appliance (e.g., the TV, microwave, dishwasher, faucet, or smart device). Installer of Things will provide standard installation consumables (screws, anchors, plumber's tape, etc.). [1]
4. Travel Logistics & Fees
I am based In Garner (near I-40 and Hwy 70, White Oak area). Travel costs are automated and built into your initial project pricing using the following structure:
Free Radius: Travel is completely free for any project site located within 5 miles of my home base.
Mileage Surcharge: For locations greater than 5 miles away, a travel fee of $0.65 per mile will be automatically added to the invoice to cover vehicle wear, maintenance, and fuel.
5. Retail Store Pick-Up & Haul Away Services
If you require assistance getting your new item to your home from (e.g., Lowe's, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc.) , or disposing of your old one, I offer upfront logistics fees.
Small Items (e.g., Faucets, Disposals, Smart Locks, Microwaves, small TVs):
Pick-Up from Store: $25.00
Haul Away & Disposal: $25.00
Large Items (e.g., Dishwashers, Garage Door Openers, large TVs):
Pick-Up from Store: $50.00
Haul Away & Disposal: $50.00
6. Warranties & Liability Limitations
90-Day Labor Warranty: I back my work with over 25 years of appliance service and technical installation experience. Installer of Things provides a 90-day warranty on all labor. This covers defects resulting directly from my installation workmanship.
Exclusion of Manufacturer Defects: This warranty does not cover mechanical, electrical, or structural failures of the product itself. Any defects in a newly unboxed dishwasher, faucet, smart lock, or TV are strictly the responsibility of the manufacturer or retail vendor.
Insurance & Property Damage: Installer of Things is Fully Insured with a comprehensive General Liability policy. In the highly unlikely event of property damage resulting directly from my work, the Customer must notify us within 48 hours of the installation to initiate an inspection and resolution process.
Pre-Existing Conditions Disclaimer: Installer of Things is not liable for failures, leaks, or electrical faults that occur due to the aging, deterioration, or pre-existing sub-par condition of the Customer’s home infrastructure (such as brittle, old polybutylene pipes, corroded valves, or degraded aluminum wiring).
