Influences

Izak has been a singer songwriter since 2004. He lived on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu the same time I did. He makes many songs about togetherness, love, and family. When living in Hawaii, I would always turn to him for a fun upbeat song.

Karunesh was in a near death incident and switched his career to music. He traveled to India where he grew a liking for their instruments. He creates world fusion music for meditation and relaxation. My family mainly listened to Karunesh on the radio when on our way to piano lessons across the Island.

The Buena Vista Social Club is made up of Cuban musicians established in 1996. Their music sounds like Latin jazz that was very popular in New Mexico.

I started listening to the band Glass Animals in Colorado. You may know them from their song 'Heat Waves' from 2020. They are an English indie rock band established in 2010.

I mostly know of Nina Simone as a Jazz singer and civil rights activist. However, she is also a pianist and has spanned her styles of music spanned styles including classical, folk, gospel, blues, R&B, and pop. I recently started listening to her music as I have started to appreciate jazz.
