What did we do in this project? In this project we used Ableton Live Studio and the Ableton Push. We were given different samples of music folders with various types of musics in them. Then after we picked which one we wanted to use, we made a remix out of them. During the process we used many things and more which we already knew and didn't know about such as the compressor which was new. Also old things such as panning and changing the volume.
I learned many things during this project. Some of them being how to use Ableton Live Studio which was most of the purpose of this project. Another thing I learned was how to use the Ableton Push was a major piece/device used to make my remix and it was way better with it. I learned how to use the audio compressor and also change the viewing options on the ALS (Ableton Live Studio). Finally, something that I also used that was new to help my remix was the tempo, I learned how to slow it down and make it go faster which was something BandLab didn't have.
There were many things I did in this assignment. First I went through the loops, and pick 5 different instruments. Then I had to make 2 alternating loops for each instrument that are contrasting. Afterwards I had to figure out which ones sounded good together and either higher or lower the volume for them. If I didn't like how one sounded then I would delete it and find an other one that could fit well in the place of that. Then I started moving the volume around like left-right, front-back and up-down. Then finally I started listening to the entire thing, and if I didn't see any mistakes I was finished.
I learned many things from that assignment. So earlier I said that I started moving the volume around such as left- right, front-back and up-down. To do this I had to use these 3 features called the PanPot, Volume Fader, and a Graphic EQ. The PanPot helped us move the volume from left to right. The Volume Fader helped us move the volume front-back. Finally the Graphic EQ was the one that helped us with up-down. These are all new things I have learned in this assignment alone!
So to do the "Fix The Mix Project" I was given a bunch of tracks. I was allowed to remove how much I wanted but had to keep 3 of the tracks which were important. Then I had to fix them, I could pan, use the graphic EQ and use other things too. Then I went on FesliyanStudios and downloaded some different audio tracks and implemented them into my own project. So now it could sound better and more like a video game.
I learned multiple things from this assignment. I feel like everything mostly has to do with experience for next time. So experiencing how long this assignment took will better help me plan for next time I do something like this. I also learned how to fix tracks that I didn't pick. The music was kind of a different style than I am used to and using the tracks that I didn't necessarily pick were hard to fix because I wasn't used to the style of it. So all of this better helped me learn for next time I do an assignment or project similar to this.
So what did we do in the "This Is Me!" project? Well to start off we had to find different tracks and space them into 4 measures every time. We then could remove some tracks or add in any new tracks. We then created more flow and energy by doing these things. While also making sure ever 4 measures is different than the one before and after.
What did we learn? Since this was our very first assignment, we learnt numerous things from this. Such as how to create more energy, by adding more tracks, and how to create flow which is by making every 4 measures different from the previous and following. We also learnt how to use Bandlab and find all sorts of different tracks of different instruments and a lot of more things on this new interface.
What did we do in this assignment? Well we were given a Doctor Who Theme Track to begin with. Then we had create two bass tracks and two melody tracks. Afterwards we picked our own sounds from Ableton and soundeffects from "feslyianstudios.com". We also used phasers and flangers into our sounds and then we also included the tardis in our Doctor Who Theme remix.
What did we learn? This was one of our first few songs that we had to remake. Well to begin we used some old tools like panning and volume but it was kind of a refresher so that is what I relearned personally. While making these tracks we had to us MIDI tracks which was new to me. The final thing which I had learned was how to use phasers and flangers on sound effects.
What did we do? In this project to start off, we found some sample audios and panned them. Afterwards we used Audio effects as filters and placed them on the drum trucks. Then we found some movie- clips/quotes and implemented them into our own song.
What did we learn? We learned a few new things this unut/topic. Such as the history of De La Soul, Dilla and others. We learned about sampling and copyright laws. We also learned to use samples and how to get music clips into our song.
What did we do? We were given the song Blind Man Driving to start. We then made a remix of it, by adding sound effects. Next, we used panning, volume sliders, compression, multiband and limiter plugin, and fade to better our remix.
What did I learn? I learned on how to get better at making remixes. I learned how to add compressions and also use the multiband and limiter plugin. I also learned about the artist of the song, and his story.
