Lofi

First I started by recording a lofi piano melody, changed the instrument to a pad and added reverb. Then I reocrded two simple drum patterns . For the final touches I added a counter melody and a rain effect.

I advanced my midi skills and worked on my lofi ablity.

Pop it Shove it

I mixed the track using panning and effects. I started off by adding a eq's to the different guitars to make sure every melody could have a presence in the mix. Then I eq'd the drums and added compression. Then I panned each track accordingly, leaving the bass in the middle so it could be highlighted and heard. Then, I added reverb to one of the back-round guitars so it left lingering, full effect in the mix.  Lastly, I adjusted the volume of the track to make sure everything was leveled.

I learned how to properly use a graphic eq to make each frequency a smooth curve because usually in visual eq's that curve is easier to see and produce. I also learned the order of mixing and why certain effects are better done at the start and some at the end.  I learned to do volume last after effects and panning have been done.

Fix The Mix

I was given an unmixed recorded track and my job was to mix them and add my own touch to collectively make them an intricate piece of music for a video game.  I first added necessary eq's, compressors, and any other basic mixing effects. Then I panned each track accordingly. After this, I edited the bass track as it sounded very disruptive. I continued by pitching down certain melodies, changing the notes within them, or the instruments themselves. After this, I added loops that I thought fit well with the darker sound I was going for. Lastly, I added sound effects to match the horror sound.

I expanded my knowledge of midi tracks and I learned how to use them in band- lab. I also learned about fesliyan .com, I never knew there was a site with free loops other then bandlab with no catch. Most sites ask for subscriptions or payments for loops.  Having a free site is a good resource. I also gained experience making music for a video game. Previously, I've only made music for general enjoyment, never directed toward a game.

Abelton Remix

I picked mix number 4, I started with a pad melody and snare. Slowly I started to build up the beat with a vocal sample and then finally the kicks. From that point, I had the basic elements then I started to added and took away elements to create deeper layering. For example, towards the middle of the beat I took out all drums and the sample to build a simple bridge. After I recorded the beat and went back and did the autmation. For the melody, I went back forth between the left and right side to create a revolving affect. Then after I did the volume autmation, fading out the beat towards the end and before the bridge. After this I took the beat out of abelton and put it into Logic. In logic I was able to give a "slowed and reverbed" ending with and I was able to add some other finishing mixing touches.

I learned how to better use live sessions and how to automate on ableton.  I also learned how to automate pan on Ableton. I also advanced on song structure and production.

Hypnotic Art

I started the first song with two basic piano chords. Then I added jersey club style drums. After I switched the chords to be guitar and to play the notes sepreate. I started the song with a metal guitar with a distrotion effect. Then I added rock style drums to go with the pace of the video. I ended on a lofi style beat with a sad ambiengt melody and classic lofi drums.

I learned how to better use ableton and how to use Wevideo as editing software. I learned how to sync up audio to a video. I learned how to better use chords

Video.mp4

I first put 4”normal”  or more generic drum samples in a track and then 4 “unique” drum samples in another track.  Then I recorded a midi baseline along with a simple piano melody. I then recorded a live set putting all the instruments together.

I learned about Native tongue styles and how they are made. I learned how to use the “bpm” trick and properly implement samples. I learned about music before my time and how it inspired music from my time. I advanced my skills in Ableton and overall gained more experience.

Blind Man Driving

I downloaded the stems and aligned them, then I added eq's and compressers on the necessary instruments. I then went on to mixing the vocals to which I added an eq, compresser, delay, and slight reverb. Finally I went to add sound effects adding different variety car samples to match the theme of the song.

I learned the trick to listen to a mix with eyes closed to hear all layers an more depth. I also learned how to use stems and mix vocals recorded in high quality already.  I alsoe learned a lot from hearing Joey talk
