This is the first drum beat I did. This beat is more like a hip hop style beat. This one is most likely my favorite one. What I like most about this beat is the snare and the kick which really put the beat together.
This is my second drum beat. It is more of a melow type of beat. This beat is also nice because it can go with almost anything like a guitar or piano.
This is my last drum beat. This one is also a mellow type of beat. it is more relaxing and is made more for pop. This beat showed me just how much you could do on ableton live and how you can create so many different types of beats.
Doctor Who Project
In this project I mixed samples in Ableton Live. As well as using them on the Doctor Who theme song. I took samples from Ableton to put my own twist on the Doctor Who theme. In the song I put samples to make it feel more space like to better fit for the Doctor Who theme. In total the song is my own version of the "Doctor Who" theme song with samples added to it.
What I learned in this project is how to sample. This is mainly one of the most important things to learn in music. I also learned how to mix the samples I got and put them in the theme song. Mixing the sample made the song more neat which helped a ton. Overrall, this project has taught me skills I most likely would have never learned outside of Music Tech.
J Dilla Project
In this project I based my song on an J Dilla production. Using many drum beats and clips from movies made this production different then any other one I have done. In the song there are 6 different Drum beats used as well as a pair always playing at the same time. As well as movie clips which really make the song feel alive.
What I learned in this project is that when you make music you have the freedom to do whatever you want. For example, usually people use and keep one or two drum beats throughout a song. However in this song I have done the complete oppisite. I have also realized that using these techniques could really change how a song could feel.
Blind Man Driving Project
In this project I did the opposite of fixing the mix. Instead I put my own twist on it. I did that by using effects on the different instruments like the Drums and Bass. As well as using audios taken from movies in feslyin studios. Just these affects have put my own twist on the song.
What I learned from this prooject is that even if a song does not have any mistakes you can still make it sound better. For example, the audio effects I used in the Drums and Bass made it more clear to hear them which gave the song more amplitude. Also, mixing up the panning made the song its own version then the original.
