OUR SONGS
OUR PHOTOS
This is a black and white photo. It was taken by John Toland between 1950-1953 in Korea during war, when U.S., U.K., and several other nations aided South Korea in their fight against the North, which was aided by China, and more than one million soldiers and countless civilians lost their lives during the comparatively brief conflict.
The men we can see in the photo must be soldiers. They must be desperate because of the war. One of the soldiers must be crying because of a tragedy that he has read on the letter sitting on the ground. The other one must have empathized with his partner and started consoling him. At the top in the left of the photo there seems to be another soldier, because he is wearing headgear. He must be reading a letter from his family. He must be missing them.
We think that this photo really conveys the message of sadness, the topic that we have chosen, we can see it clearly reflected in both of the soldiers that are hugging just to feel comforted since both of them are going through a lot in war.

I think that this man is devastated because he has lost everything, it seems that his house is completely destroyed, he could have lost his family, that's the reason why he is crying.
I think this photo is related to the topic that we have chosen because the man looks really sad and devastated due to the loss of his home.
This is a coloured photo. It was taken in Feb.27, 1991 by news photographer David Turnley during the first gulf war in Kuwait, Iraq when Andy Alaniz and his unit, part of the Army's 18th Airborne Corps, attacked Jalibah Airfield. During the golf war, Iraq was ruling the whole
country.
I think that the soldier is suffering because he could have lost a family member or a partner. The other soldiers maybe could accompany the feeling of his partner.
This photo makes me feel sad and sorry because this soldier help the injured civilians, fight’s for save his country and after he loses a lot of friends.
The photo shows perfectly our topic because in this photo we see the soldiers crying and devasted for any reason.
This is a colored photo. It was taken in 2015 by Pablo Jorge Leal in Syria Kobani. That war lasted more than 12 years. Since the start of the war, more than 200.000 soldiers and countless civilians have lost their lives.
In this photo we can see children. They must be playing with a destroyed tank. One of them looks sad. Maybe he has lost his parents or some relatives. The other children look happy because they must have hidden for a lot of time because of the war and now, the can finally play. At the background of the photo we can see a lot of buildings in debris.
This photo conveys that children can have fun with anything during bad situations. You can see the other side of the war that is not seen, the happiness that people have when they can disconnect
for a moment of the war they are going through.
