Message from the Headteacher
Good afternoon everyone, As we have arrived at the end of another academic year, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the highlights of the year and to thank you all for the support you have given the school over the year.
It has been a great year at Woodhill and we have seen the children take part in such a huge variety of different trips and experiences. We have continued to promote the core values of kindness, respect and responsibility and these have played an active part in life at Woodhill School this year.
We have also had the memorable moments of the Kings Coronation street party, Woodhill Iftar, and the memorable Woodhill World cafe right at the start of the year. It has been great to share each of these with so many of you. The children have had rich opportunities ranging from the Royal festival hall to playing hockey at the Olympic park and a wonderful beach trip. As we move into the summer holidays we would like to wish all of the children and our families a happy, healthy and restful summer break. We look forward to seeing you all again on Thursday 7th September for another school year. All the best from Mr Phillips and the whole staff.

Free School lunch offer for all children from September 2023
You’ll know from our communication in May, after an announcement from the Mayor of London, that all primary pupils in Years 3 through to 6 will now receive a free school lunch from September, as well as students in Reception and Key stage 1 who are already receiving this offer.
Funding has been agreed for the next academic year but there is an ambition to extend the offer. As a school, we see this offer as a positive one in that children will have a delicious, nutritious meal everyday and families could save around £440 per child.
**Please note that while the scheme means all primary school-aged children will receive a free lunch, families who are eligible for the Government’s Free School Meals should continue registering through the Royal Borough of Greenwich . Once confirmed, your child can still access free activities and food over the school holidays as part of Royal Borough of Greenwich’s scheme. Crucially, It also means our school will receive additional funding, known as Pupil Premium.
What if I don’t want my child to access the Free School Lunch offer?
If you do not want your child to have a free lunch offered through this initiative, please complete the form below to opt-out of the Free School Lunch offer. You can also email us at info@inspirewoodhill.co.uk This is important so that we can gauge numbers and plan accordingly. https://forms.gle/UhMwNZLc81GZm8tE6
What type of meal will be offered in September?
We work very closely with Chartwells, our catering team, to ensure that children receive a hot healthy lunch in line with the Government’s healthy eating standards. As you know, we have also been trialling a school packed lunch with sandwiches this term, which has been received very well by the children. You can view our current menu on our website.
What if my child has special dietary requirements?
Chartwells are experienced in making adjustments for children with special dietary requirements. We have allergy aware menus available (even on special theme days). All information can be found on our website, along with the medical and allergy forms for you to complete and return.

What we have learned this week
Year 3 This week, year 3 have been working hard to publish their own novels. Chestnut Tree made them into little books, Elm Tree published them on Chromebooks and Aspen Tree shared their stories aloud with their friends. We have been finishing our Maths learning for the year, learning about Statistics and practicing our fluency with some tricky maths sheets Mr Smalley created! We have also worked incredibly hard on our performance of Jack and the Beanstalk which we were able to share this week with the rest of KS2 and our adults on Wednesday afternoon. Finally, we have been talking about what we think year 4 will be like, and sharing our feelings about moving up to a new year group, a new classroom and a new teacher - we have some very excited children!
Year 6 have had an exciting last few weeks at Woodhill. Last week they performed their version of 'Aladdin', which was spectacular, before enjoying a trip to Westminster Abbey on Friday to see the coronation chair and the grave of the unknown soldier. This week, they have enjoyed finishing their learning journeys in History and Science- finding out about the Civil Rights Movement and the effects of different substances on the body. On Tuesday, they enjoyed a fabulous trip to the cinema to see 'The Incredibles 2' and they are looking forward to their leavers' assembly on Friday. The children in Year 6 this year have been fabulous and they will be missed, but we wish them every success when they embark on their new adventure at secondary school in September.
