Collaboration matters   Excellence in everything   Community first   Equity for everyone   Continuous growth

It has been great to see everyone this week as we start the summer term with lots of fantastic learning planned for children across the school. Our year 6 children are on the last leg on towards their May assessments and are showing fantastic determination to close gaps and feel as confident and relaxed as possible when May comes around. Year groups across the school are getting to grips with a broad range of texts and themes including a focus on growing food through the text 'Oliver's vegetables' in Nursery.  'Goldilocks and just one bear' in Reception, 'Dougal's deep sea diary' in year one, 'The Promise' in year 2, 'Accidental Prime minister' in year 3 where the children will learn about democracy and 'The Diver's daughter' and a focus on the Tudors in year 4. In year 5 the children will be learning linked to a new text called 'When the sky falls' I look forward to updating you about our recent Ofsted inspection soon and will be sharing the key end of year dates with you next week.

Have a good weekend and fingers crossed for good weather over the weekend.

Chrome Book Initiative

The Inspire Partnership Academy Trust is thrilled to introduce a potential new initiative: a 1:1 Chromebook programme for all Year 3 and 4 pupils (current Year 2 and 3 pupils) starting September 2024. This programme would equip each student with a Chromebook for learning and exploration, both at school and home. Going forward, this would then apply to all pupils as they enter Year 3.

Equipping Young Minds for the Future

We believe Chromebooks will empower our students in several ways:

·         Empowering Learning: Chromebooks open doors to innovative learning experiences, fostering creativity, study skills, and exploration.

·         Equal Opportunities: Every pupil will have the chance to engage with the digital world, fostering inclusivity and technological literacy.

·         Ownership Opportunity: After a small monthly fee spread over three years, your child gets to keep their Chromebook, promoting a sense of responsibility and continued learning beyond the programme.

Making it Affordable

We understand the importance of affordability. Through collaboration with leading IT suppliers, we've secured a budget-friendly monthly payment plan, estimated at approximately £3.50 per week for three years.

We Value Your Feedback

Your input is crucial. To ensure a successful launch and cater to your needs, we kindly ask you to complete a short survey included in this form https://forms.gle/zyZXs2sLvDqA5MzJ6.

The survey addresses potential concerns and helps us refine our product selection and pricing structure.

Building a Future-Ready Generation

We firmly believe this 1:1 Chromebook programme will equip our pupils with the tools and skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. We look forward to partnering with you in making this initiative a reality.

What we have learned this week

Reception - The children returned this week excited to share all of their adventures from the Easter holidays. The children shared stories about what they have been up to and the different religious celebrations they partook in with their families. "I went to the Natural History Museum and I saw planet earth and the dinosaur bones." - Max.  Reception have been looking at the traditional tale of Golidlocks and the Three Bears. They have been reading and retelling the traditional tale through story maps and acting. They have been describing the characters in the story, "Goldilocks is bad because she ate all the porridge." - David. In Maths, the children have been using their skills of subitising and adding to learn double facts. "Double 4 is 8. I know it is a double because the parts are the same." - Toke. In Phonics, the children have been learning to read Phase 4 words. The children have been applying their phonics skills in their Literacy books to read and write. The children have enjoyed a Nature School session, where they were able to see the impact of their planting in the Spring term. "Look, it's a bee on the flower. It's collecting the pollen and nectar. We got the flowers in B&Q." - Isaac.

Year 1 - This week has been an exciting week for Year 1! A mysterious suitcase appeared in the classrooms, filled with clues about their new core text, including a tag that said ‘To Atlantis’... the children have been making predictions about what their core text could be based on these clues, and were very excited to learn that the new book they are going to read was ‘Dougal the Deep Sea Diver’! Olivia said ‘I knew it was Dougal from the flippers in the suitcase!’ The children have then been roleplaying, looking in specific to emotions Dougal might feel in one of their lessons.

In Maths they have been continuing their learning of place value and have been working on their knowledge of tens and ones. Marwa said ‘I have three tens and 2 ones, so I have 32!’ The children have rounded the week off with a game of ‘Place Value Bingo’ and competed to see who could call Bingo first!

In DT, they have been learning how to weave. They had a piece of A4 paper and they wove paper strips in and out of it. Logan said ‘it’s like I’m making a blanket - I have to put the paper in and out and it makes nice patterns!’ They thoroughly enjoyed this hands on experience and there was some great class discussions on how they were weaving each of their independent ones.

Year 6 - This week, Year 6  had an exciting week ,in their maths  learning, as they developed their problem solving skills to calculate missing dimensions so they could calculate areas and perimeters of common 2D shapes. To keep those arithmetic skills developing, the children continue to improve  their  `Personal Bests` in their  early morning arithmetic challenges . Bolu commented , “ My scores are so much better than last September.”

In Science, Year 6 have been exploring and finding out more about internal body organs - lungs, heart, circulatory system-  so they can create a detailed `double page spread` in several weeks time.  Bella  said , “ I didn't know our lungs had so many different parts.”

In English, the children have been  reading and exploring  `The Landlady ` - a fascinating story set in  Victorian Times which is full of intrigue and suspense.  The events - and use of rich language-  in the story have prompted excellent discussions in class.  Christian  commented ," I didn't know that Roald Dahl  wrote mysteries.``

The children have also been publishing their final pieces - formal letters- relating to their reading - last term- of `The Other Side of Truth.` Ellie  said of her final published piece , “ I feel ready and proud of my formal letter .”

In RE, the  children have been taking  part in  paired and group discussions - as they look forward to secondary school-  in a unit about their `Journey in Life.`

Lastly,  the children  have continued to improve their  practical  skills and teamwork  in PE. Damon  said, “ My  throwing  and passing have really improved in basketball.”
