Message from Mrs Cook

Happy Friday! This week the sun has begun to shine which has brought a sense of energy into the school. Let's hope it continues over the coronation weekend.

It has been a busy week at Rockliffe Manor as the children have been gearing up towards the King’s coronation celebrations held on Friday. The playground was flooded with lots of red, white and blue as the children entered this morning. It was lovely to see the excitement from both children and staff alike for their first coronation!

We also celebrated the coronation in style with an afternoon tea lunch. The children’s creativity definitely shone through from their excellent crowns and royal hats made for our competition. It was amazing to see them parading around the playground in front of their families. I want to extend a huge thank you to all the families who donated and showed enthusiasm for this event, it truly made it a success!

It was fantastic to see the children's curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the coronation celebrations, and I am proud of their efforts in making it such a memorable occasion. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in the school community.

As we approach the upcoming SATS assessments for the children in Year 6, I want to take a moment to reassure both the children and parents that we are proud of their hard work and dedication to their studies thus far. These assessments are designed to test the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout their primary education, and they are an opportunity for them to showcase all that they have learned. I have no doubt that our Year 6 children are amazing and will do themselves very proud. We will provide all the support and resources necessary to ensure they feel confident and well-prepared for the assessments. Remember, these assessments are just one part of their academic journey, and we will continue to support and nurture their growth beyond them.

I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend and we look forward to seeing you back on Tuesday.

With very best wishes, Mrs Cook and the Rockliffe Manor team

Learning this week

Let’s look at the learning from this week … this week we are focusing on MATHS!

Reception have been learning about ‘Goldilocks and just one bear’. The children explained how they have been exploring adding and using the part whole model to help them. ‘Maths in fun, I like helping my friends’ shared Divine, ‘I like adding numbers’ explained Inaya and Harley showed us how he uses the washing line to help him. The Reception classroom has been full of wonderful resources to support this learning and the children are looking forward to building on this next week.

In Year 1, the children have been doubling numbers and exploring counting in their 2s, 5s and 10s. ‘I loved learning how to double.. 9 + 9 = 18’ shared Aniya. ‘I feel so proud that I know my two times tables’ beamed Jack. ‘We used collaboration in Maths and helped each other’ explained Douglas and Ishy.

And in Year 3 the children have been busy learning fractions. ‘I liked using computing in my Maths learning this week’ said Zechariah. ‘I learned about square numbers and fractions’ Tochi explained. ‘I am proud of working independently when learning about square numbers’ shared Zuzia.

Jungle Gym

Closure

Lego/ Duplo

Rockliffe Coffee mornings

          PE Kits

Due to health and safety, Mrs Cook has taken the decision to close the jungle gym both before and after school. Please may we ask that you help us uphold this decision when in the playground with your children.  The jungle gym will continue to be open during the school day when adequate supervision can be assured.

We would like to increase our resources and maybe have a Lego/Duplo station at playtime. If any of our parents have Lego or Duplo that your child no longer plays with we would appreciate any donations.

Every Tuesday morning from 8:50am, Rockliffe will be holding a Coffee morning in the Music Room. Please feel free to pop along and join us.

Tuesday 9th May - we will be joined by the Metropolitan Police community officer

PE Kits - can we please remind you that all children should bring their PE Kits in to School. The children will need a pair of shorts, T-shirt and socks.
