Dear Parents and Carers,
This month, we draw to the close of our Reading Canon selection process. We have seen incredible engagement across all schools and we are now officially entering the final stages which centres entirely around our children. Their voices will be heard as they have the final vote on our updated Inspire reading canon. By giving children the final vote on what they read, they shift from passive participants to active owners of their own reading journeys. This is even more significant with 2026 being the National Year of Reading. We want to continue to promote a love of reading for pleasure in all of our schools and this project has given us the opportunity to share a love of reading with our children. We can’t wait to see all of the final book reviews and look forward to sharing a selection of them on the Inspire website.
We have some brilliant news to celebrate in this week's newsletter. Foxfield Primary School has successfully achieved the Healthy Schools London Silver Award, an award that recognises achievements in a school's continued commitment to our children’s health and wellbeing. With valuable support from Public Health, our staff have spent the past few months designing a new project aimed at improving wellbeing across the entire school. This project will include the creation of a new school growing area that will connect us closely with our local community, alongside new opportunities for our children to take part in food education, learn growing skills, and enjoy healthy eating sessions. A huge congratulations goes to the staff and children whose hard work made this wonderful achievement possible.
SuperKind
At Foxfield, we believe education goes far beyond the classroom walls. Education is also about building character, developing empathy, and helping our children realise that they have the power to change the world—no matter how small they are. That is why we are so incredibly proud of our partnership with SuperKind, a fantastic platform dedicated to social action for children. Through SuperKind, our pupils are learning about vital global issues, from environmental conservation to supporting local food banks. More importantly, they are learning that they don't have to wait until they grow up to make a difference. They can start right now. When children engage in social action, something magical happens. They build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and learn the true value of compassion. It turns 'I wish someone would fix that' into 'I can help fix that.'
Kindness and activism start at home, and we would love for you to join us on this journey! Here are a few simple ways you can encourage social action with your child this month:
Ask your child what causes they are learning about. What do they care about most? Animals? The planet? Helping others?
Pick a small, family-friendly project. It could be picking up litter at your local park, clearing out old toys and books to donate to a charity shop, or baking treats for an elderly neighbour.
If your child shows initiative—like turning off running water to save the planet or sticking up for a friend—remind them to tell their teacher so they can earn a SuperKind badge.

As we approach the end of the academic year, please find key dates and details:
🎉 Foxfield Festival – Tuesday 9th July 3.30 pm
We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Foxfield Festival, which will take place straight after school on Wednesday 8th July at 3.30pm. This is always a highlight of the school year and a fantastic opportunity for families to come together and celebrate our wonderful school community. Expect music, games, food stalls, and plenty of fun for everyone. Be sure mark the date in your diary – we would love to see as many families there as possible.
🏫 Meet the New Teacher – Wednesday 1st July
On Wednesday 1st July, all children will spend part of the day visiting their new classroom and meeting their new class teacher for the next academic year. This is always an exciting time for the children and helps them feel confident and ready for the transition in September. We know that getting to know their new environment and teacher helps ease any nerves, and the children always enjoy this special day of exploration and getting to know everyone before they officially move to the next year group after the Summer holidays.

📝 End of Year Reports – Friday 17th July
Children will be bringing home their end of year reports on Friday 11th July. These reports are a celebration of everything your child has achieved this year, and we hope you enjoy reading them as much as we have enjoyed putting them together. They reflect the children’s progress, effort, and individual strengths across all areas of learning, and we encourage you to share the report with your child and celebrate their accomplishments together.
