February 2026
Dear Families,
We hope you and your families enjoyed a restful half term break and are feeling recharged for the weeks ahead.
This half term is a week shorter than usual but with some much to enjoy and look forward too! We are incredibly proud to announce that this half term, Foxfield has been selected as a model of excellence to host three significant professional visits. It is a huge testament to the hard work of our staff and students that Foxfield is being recognised on a national level, and we are incredibly proud to announce that we will be opening our doors to three significant professional visits this half term. We have been selected by the Government’s RISE (Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence) team for two separate visits, alongside a leaders from a Trust of schools in the North of England. These visits provide a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase the "Foxfield Way," as we share our ambitious curriculum, our specific pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning and the strategies that underpin our success as a school. Being selected as a model of excellence allows us to support the wider educational system and help drive up standards across the country, while also giving our own team a chance to celebrate the high-quality work happening in our classrooms every day.
The excitement is already building for World Book Day which focuses on the joy of choice and reading for pleasure. To celebrate, we invite all children to come to school dressed as a favourite character. In line with our commitment to sustainability, we encourage you to "get creative, not commercial." Rather than buying something new, why not:
Recycle: Transform old clothes into a hero’s cape or a villain’s disguise.
Repurpose: Use cardboard boxes or household items to create props.
Borrow: Swap costumes with friends or siblings.
A letter was sent home before the break detailing our World Book Day competitions and further event information do take a look if you haven't had a chance yet!
Get your rolling pins ready! To wrap up this half-term, we will be hosting the inaugural Foxfield Great British Bake Off. As part of our commitment to creating memorable experiences for our children, this spring term highlight will see each class work as a team to design, bake, and present one magnificent "showstopper" dish that reflects their unique class personality. The week of March 16th, 2026, will be our dedicated baking window, where children will focus on collaboration and culinary skills to create bakes that are fun, imaginative, and full of flavour. The competition will culminate in a grand judging assembly on Friday March 20th, 2026, where panels will evaluate entries based on appearance, taste, texture, and creativity. We can’t wait to see which class will take home the coveted Golden Spoon and be crowned this year's Star Bakers!
With very best wishes, Megan Minnett, Tatum Sharp and all of the Foxfield team
