Collaboration matters   Excellence in everything   Community first   Equity for everyone   Continuous growth

April 2024

Dear Families,

We hope that you all had a wonderful break and found time to relax. Our first two weeks back at school have been busy but as always the children have returned with such positive attitudes and a real eagerness to begin their Summer term learning. It is hard to believe that we are in the final term of this academic year already but we are looking forward to what we can achieve as a school during this term.

Last Friday your child’s year group newsletter and half termly homework was e-mailed out to you all. We hope that these newsletters give you a clear understanding of what learning will take place in each subject across the half term. In the first couple of weeks of this half term, the children will be immersing themselves into the plot of the story and beginning to explore the characters and key events within their core texts. Do make some time to talk to your children about their new core texts over the weekend. Below are three questions which could be used to find out more about the new core texts the children are reading as part of their English learning:

Tell me one/two things that the main character does in this part of the story?

Tell me the most interesting/ exciting/ funniest/ your favourite part of the story? Why?

What do you think is going to happen next?  Why do you think that?

We are excited to share that our school is embarking on an exciting journey towards achieving the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award! This initiative aims to foster a positive and inclusive school culture where every child's rights are recognised, respected, and upheld. By embracing the principles outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), we will empower our students to become compassionate global citizens. Through education, discussion, and action, we will ensure that the rights of every child are championed and safeguarded within our school community. We will work towards the Bronze Award and then the Silver Award in the next academic year.

We continue to update our @foxfield Twitter feed daily so that you all have a regular insight into school life and the learning that takes place across year groups.
