Dear Parents and Carers
Congratulations to the JLT team on being selected! We are excited to see the positive impact you will make around the school. A big well done to all year groups for staying focused and committed during this week’s termly assessments.
We also want to commend all pupils who are upholding Delce values and acting as role models, contributing to a safe and inclusive school environment free from bullying and racism.
Parents, please continue to remind your children of the expected conduct at school and encourage them to uphold these important values both in and out of school. Together, we can build a stronger, more supportive community!
From the Delce Team - At Delce we do belong!
Our Core Value this term: Collaboration
Thank you to everyone who donated food to our Harvest Festival foodbank!
We received a lovely certificate to say 'Thank you' and to let us know our donations totalled 88.2KG!
What is collaboration?
Collaboration means working together to achieve a goal. It’s when we share ideas, listen to each other and help one another to get things done. By working as a team, we can solve problems more easily and come up with creative solutions. Collaboration teaches us to respect each other's strengths and support one another, making our community stronger and more connected!
This skill will help children in school and in all areas of life, as it teaches respect, teamwork and good communication. We encourage parents to talk with their children at home about how they can show collaboration at school, with friends and in the community. Thank you for supporting this important learning!

Year 3 have been exploring their artistic side by creating intricate leaves and adding a 3D texture using wire, pipes, and woolen string. This creative activity has allowed them to experiment with materials and techniques, producing unique and textured designs. They also had a fabulous time with the PVA glue.
This week in Year 4, we have been learning about past simple, past perfect and past progressive tense. We identified different verbs and discussed how the verb changes between past progressive and past simple tense. We enjoyed writing and converting different sentences from and to past simple and past progressive tense.
This week, our children engaged in thought-provoking discussions as they explored the United Nations Human Rights Laws. They carefully ranked their top five laws and provided thoughtful justifications for their choices. It was inspiring to see our pupils critically analysing these vital topics and developing their understanding of global citizenship.
Year 6 have been diving into the world of Judaism this week. We have built on our prior knowledge of Judaism and the synagogue. We have learnt about the celebration of Bat/Bar Mitzvah. We were able to understand what a Bat/Bar Mitzvah is for and how children become Jewish adults throughout this process.
DEC are enjoying our music lessons and can now use the skills to perform whole songs together. The children in the DEC have been helpful and caring towards a new child in the DEC this week.
Jimmy's Tennis Coaching
This week Jimmy's Tennis Coaching visited Delce Academy to deliver fully funded Tennis lessons to selected Year 6 children. Jimmy's Tennis Coaching deliver these session every Tuesday to Years 5 and 6 children.

School site and safety
You can legally park opposite yellow zigzags. However, this can make crossing the road more dangerous, especially for children. Some schools have yellow zigzags on both sides of the road for this reason.
When picking up or dropping off children at schools, you should do the following:
Allow yourself plenty of time as the area is likely to be busy.
Do not park on yellow zigzag lines and avoid parking opposite them.
If you decide to park further away, please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways or access ways.
For further information on parking and road safety please visit Kent Police Road Safety

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
For more details visit our website.
