Respect Collaboration Kindness Perseverance Honesty Responsibility
Dear Parents and Carers
What a fun and busy half term it has been so far. It has been wonderful to see the children at Delce consistently demonstrating our school value of responsibility. Whether it's through taking ownership of their learning, looking after the school equipment or helping one another.
The Year 6 team are busy rehearsing for their end of year performance and their hard work is certainly starting to shine through. We also enjoyed a fantastic Sports Day, made even more special thanks to the support of the Friends of Delce Academy for providing refreshments, thank you for helping to make the day a great success along with all the staff at the school! We would also like to thank Mr Minlah for organising and running which a wonderful day. The children really did have a wonderful time and it was lovely to see so many families join us for the picnic!
Our Junior Leadership Team have also been busy on the ground, they hosted their second assembly this half term reminding the school about presentation, looking after the environment and making sure we all show our value of responsibility. Some of the JLT also had the opportunity to work with Chartwells (school lunch providers) to learn about healthy eating and snacks. They even got to make their own pizzas using nutritious ingredients. Afterwards they returned to their classes to share what they'd learnt, helping to spread healthy habits across the school!

Our Core Value this term: Responsibility
This term at school, we're excited to be focusing on the important value of Responsibility! Responsibility means understanding that our choices and actions have an impact and that we can be trusted to do what's right.
We'll be exploring how we can be responsible for our belongings, our learning and our behaviour, as well as how being responsible helps us to be great friends and citizens.
At home, you could help your child explore responsibility by giving them small chores, like tidying their toys or helping to set the table, or by encouraging them to take care of a pet or plant. Even simple things like remembering to pack their own school bag or choosing their own clothes can build a sense of responsibility!
Key events happening this term
We are absolutely thrilled to extend a special invitation to all parents for your child's Global Outcome Showcase! This exciting event is a wonderful opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible learning journey your child has undertaken this term.
During the showcase, your child's entire year group will proudly present their collective learning from this past term. This will be followed by a unique chance for both you and your child to share and discuss the progress evident in their individual learning books. It's a fantastic way to celebrate their achievements and gain insight into their educational growth.
We genuinely look forward to welcoming you to this celebration of learning!
These showcases will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the school hall on the following dates:
Tuesday, July 1st, 2025: Year 3 Showcase
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025: Year 4 Showcase
Thursday, July 3rd, 2025: Year 5 Showcase
Please note that Year 6's Global Outcome Showcase will be incorporated into their special end-of-year production. More details on this will be shared separately.
Changes to End-of-Term Finishing Times
We're writing to let you know about a slight but important change to our school's finishing times at the end of the Christmas, Easter, and Summer terms.
Starting in July 2025, the school day will conclude at 2:00 PM on the very last day of term before these major holidays.
We've made this decision to align our holiday finishing times with schools in our local area and Partnership. We believe this adjustment will offer greater consistency for families with children attending different schools and help make those holiday transitions a bit smoother for everyone.
We understand that any change to school timings might require you to adjust your family's arrangements. That's why we wanted to give you plenty of advance notice about this upcoming change, which will take effect from the end of the Summer Term in July 2025.
Year 3 have been inspired by the beautiful nature-based artwork of Stef Mitchell. They’ve been exploring her unique style, which captures the fine details of leaves and natural textures. Using a range of sketching techniques such as hatching, cross-hatching, and shading, the children have created their own detailed leaf drawings. Their careful observation and creativity have led to some stunning results, and we’re proud of the way they’ve embraced the opportunity to develop their artistic skills.
Year 4 have had an amazing time in Computing, learning how to program a robot called Picoh. All the children were delighted to be able to make the robot move and program them to have conversations with each other. We are really proud of their perseverance and resilience to keep trying even though it was very challenging for all.
Year 5 have been enjoying their core text 'Romeo and Juliet.' They have immersed themselves into the world of Shakespeare! The children have been analysing the main characters in the play and unpicking the famous tragedy. To support this learning, they have engaged actively and with enthusiasm in drama and role play. We are super proud of their efforts and their acting skills.
Year 6 have had a wonderful few weeks recently. After going to Wicked in London and enduring the busy train journey, the children have jumped straight into learning their lines for their End of Year Production. Work is fully underway ready to wow everybody coming to watch! Keep up the hard work Year 6!
Some year 6 have enjoyed a trip to the London theatre show Wicked. They were amazing considering it was so hot and busy with lots of waiting. So well done. All year 6's have taken part in transitions to their new schools and had fun! The DEC have been enjoying the weather and learning outside under tree shade where possible.

SEND
A message from our SENCO, Mr Palmer...
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
As we begin to approach the summer holidays, does your child find days out overwhleming due to the crowds, the weather and other challenges?
Try taking a spray bottle of water with you. That way children can cool themselves down with a quick squirt whenever needed. Try also cooling any specific places before hand. Find out when they are quietest or anything they can specifically do to help your child.
Got a question or a concern about SEND? Book to get a 15 minute slot with Mr Palmer to discuss any concerns and strategies that may help! Just scan the QR code on the poster to book your slot.
SEND Parent and Carer Forum!
Our next SEND Coffee Morning we will be holding a parent and carer forum. This is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and views on how we can best support your children. Please do come along for a ☕, a 🍪 and a chat!

Healthy Snacks!
A reminder about break-time snacks.
To support the health and wellbeing of all our pupils, we ask that children bring only healthy snacks to school for break times. This helps us to promote a positive and healthy eating environment for everyone.
Examples of healthy snacks include:
Fresh fruit (e.g., apples, bananas, grapes, berries)
Vegetable sticks (e.g., carrots, cucumber, peppers)
Yogurt
Rice cakes
Small portion of cheese
Homemade popcorn (no added sugar)
We appreciate your support in reinforcing healthy eating habits. Your cooperation ensures that break times contribute positively to our children's energy levels and overall wellbeing.
As we are now in the summer term, we are looking for enthusiastic parents and carers to join the Friends of Delce Academy and help make a positive impact on our school community.

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
For more details visit our website.
