Dear Parents and Carers,
As we navigate this incredible summer heat, I want to extend a massive thank you to our wonderful children and dedicated staff. I am incredibly proud of how everyone has persevered, showing great resilience while taking extra care to keep safe and hydrated. Despite the soaring temperatures, the brilliant learning in our classrooms hasn't missed a beat! Looking ahead, we have so many exciting events and fun activities planned for the rest of the term. A special shout-out goes to our Year 6 children, who are gearing up for an exceptionally busy and memorable final few weeks with us. Thank you all for your continued support!
Kind regards,
Miss North

Our Core Value this term: Responsibility
In school, responsibility means being the boss of your own actions and choices! It’s like having a set of superpowers that you use every day, like showing up to class on time, keeping your table neat, taking care of school books and doing your homework without being asked.
When you show responsibility, amazing things happen. First, it helps you become a confident learner because you see how your hard work leads to cool successes. Second, when you take care of your teachers and classmates see that they can really trust and count on you. That trust can lead to fun opportunities, like being a classroom helper, a line leader or a member of JLT. Plus, learning to be responsible now is like practising for the future, helping you become an awesome, independent person who knows how to solve problems and achieve big goals!
This week, our Year 3 students dived into our brand new topic of time, exploring how to read and tell the time with increasing accuracy. The children worked hard on mastering the clock face, learning how to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes and down to precise 1-minute intervals.
This week year 4 have had an amazing time making Roman coins using clay and designing and making Roman catapults. In English, we have been looking at the features of a split narrative based on our core text Fish in a Tree.
Year 5 have started to write their split narratives from the perspective of Romeo and Juliet this week. We have included a range of skills we have revisted this term. For example, speech between characters, show not tell and use of figurative language to create vivid imagery for the reader.
Year 6 have delved into the world of WONDER! The children have become very engaged in their end of year production; it has given them chance to express themselves through drama. They are very excited to showcase their natural talents on the stage soon!
DEC had an amazing sports day with all children showing great sportsmanship and kindness to others. All teams were cheering on each other and it was a beautiful DEC event. Parents and children enjoyed finishing with ice cream and enjoying the weather. Children are in the classrooms they will be in next year and are coping really well with the transition. It has been a hot week in DEC and time outside has been short and sweet to ensure the childrens safety, please remember sun cream!
SEND: A message SENCO Mr Palmer
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
Are you finding that the recent heat is making your child more overwhelmed, anxious, or sensory-overloaded than usual? Extreme temperatures can heavily dysregulate SEND pupils, as their bodies often struggle with interoception (sensing internal body signals like heat).
Try these quick strategies to help them cool down and reset:
Sensory Cooling Zones: Offer cooling sensory inputs like frozen water bottles to hold, damp washcloths on the back of the neck, or lukewarm foot baths.
Visual Routines for Hydration: Don't rely on them to feel thirsty. Use a visual schedule or a fun timer to prompt drinking water or eating high-hydration snacks like watermelon.
Tactile Accommodation: Loose, breathable, tagless clothing is essential. If sweat causes sensory distress, keep a damp cloth nearby to dry skin quickly.
Wishing the following children a Happy Birthday!
Nelson - Darwin
Hayden - Earhart
Elliot - Earhart
Skylah-Rose - Sharman
Adrian - Dickens
Oabile - Brunel
Aindri - Brunel
Harley - Sharman
Faith - Curie
Albert - Jackson
