Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to this week’s newsletter! It has been another wonderful week at Delce Academy. Our pupils have been demonstrating continuous curiosity and enthusiasm across all areas of school life and I am delighted to share some of the highlights with you.
This week, we are celebrating our core value of Respect, reflecting on how we show kindness, listening to others and build a positive community. Huge congratulations go to all our Merit Award winners, who stand out as brilliant role models across the school. High attendance remains a priority for us and we are working closely with TEAM EWS to ensure all our pupils have the best possible opportunity to succeed.
We are also coming together as a community for our annual Harvest Festival to support the Medway Foodbank. Please check your child’s year-group shopping list for needed items and drop off any non-perishable donations at main reception by Monday 12th October.
Thank you as always for your warm partnership, ongoing support and dedication to our school.
Warmest regards,
Miss North

Merit Awards

We are so proud of the fantastic effort you're putting in every day. Keep shining bright!
Our Core Value this term: Respect
Links to learn more about what respect is and how we show it in our daily lives.
By Maya Angelou who wrote extensively on dignity and self-worth such as her famous poem "Still I Rise"
Respect is a word that holds great power,
It shines like a light in every hour.
It’s listening close when others speak,
And standing up to help the weak.
Respect starts deep within your heart,
A place where kindness gets its start.
When we show respect each day,
We light the world in a beautiful way.
Harvest Festival
As autumn arrives, we are coming together to support our local community for this year’s Harvest Festival. We are proud to be collecting donations for Medway Foodbank to help local families in need.
To help us collect a wide variety of essentials, Medway Foodbank has provided a desired shopping list, and each year group has been allocated specific items. However, any and all non-perishable food donations are immensely appreciated!
Drop-off Deadline: Monday 12th October 2026
Where to drop off: Main reception area
On behalf of Delce Academy, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful community. Your kindness and ongoing generosity never fail to make a real difference—thank you for your endless support.
Year endured a wonderful workshop surrounding the upcoming World Black History Month. The children developed a wonderful dance routine to some famous songs of Motown! It was wonderful to see how engaged the children were when learning about the different backgrounds and cultures.
Great job guys!
Year 4 have been working very hard on our narratives in English learning all about the structure of narratives and the purpose of them. We have also been having fun in Art creating a background for our final work in the style of Solara Shira.
In Year 5, we have been learning about place value. We used cards and place value cards to to find more or less than a number to 100,000. Then we added them to our place value grid. We had lots of fun learning.
In the amazing Year 6, we have explored 'how does music bring us together' by learning the song 'What do you want to'. We first used our body procussion to tap along the the beat of the song and then we incorperated musical instruments.
DEC children have been enjoying our offer of clubs this term. Cooking, football and art and craft. They choose their club every Thursday so they can change clubs each week to see what they enjoy. DEC children can apply to take part in after school clubs with the mainstream children. DEC staff will support them from 3pm until their club starts, children can apply for new clubs each term in the mainschool but cannot swap between clubs. Children loved making pizza this week and some experimented with the sweet and savoury mix!
Enrichment at Delce
Celebrating the start of Black History Month with rhythm and creativity!
The children at Delce Academy came together for an incredible music and dance session to kick off a month of honouring culture, history and community through the power of movement. Taking inspiration from legendary Motown classics, the pupils immersed themselves in the music, took the challenge in their stride and teamed up to learn dance routines to perform for each other.
What a fantastic, fun-filled session packed with teamwork, self-expression and joy!
Become a music tech!
We are delighted to partner with Kent Music to give our Year 5 pupils the exciting opportunity to become music technologists!
The children will join the brilliant Noah for hands-on sessions to explore digital composition, sound design and audio production. The children are already buzzing with excitement from their first lesson.
Reading at Delce
Congratulations to Florence who won the prize draw from our parental questionaire from the Summer term. We hope you enjoy sharing your new set of books at home.
