Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to another exciting half term! It has been wonderful to see the children return to school with such positive energy and ready to learn. They have already dived straight into their new topics, enjoying some lovely engaging 'hooks' to start their lessons off with a spark of curiosity. This half term, our core focus value is Honesty. We will be spending time reminding the children how being truthful is an integral part of both our school ethos and our wider community, helping us to build trust and respect together.
A few quick practical reminders for the weeks ahead:
School Uniform: Just a gentle reminder to please ensure your child is wearing the correct attire. You can easily review our full uniform policy on the school website.
Healthy Snacks: We continue to strongly encourage nutritious choices for break times, so please keep providing those healthy snacks to keep their brains fueled for learning!
Kind regards,
Miss North

Our Core Value this term: Honesty
Honesty is a quiet strength. It means:
Owning your actions: Admitting when a mistake is made and learning from it.
Academic integrity: Doing your own work and taking pride in your individual progress.
Sincerity: Being truthful with your teachers and peers, even when it feels difficult.
When we choose honesty, we create a safe space for everyone. It’s the "glue" that holds our community together and without it, collaboration and friendship can’t thrive.
By practising honesty, we are building character and reliability which is needed in the wider world. When we are honest, we don't just clear our conscience, we clear the path for real growth.
Year 3 has enjoyed a fantastic start to the term by diving into their core text, The Accidental Prime Minister. The children have been busy imagining how a young boy could rise to the country's highest office. As part of our learning, we investigated the purpose of a manifesto and looked at the persuasive devices used to win over an audience. Putting their new knowledge into practice, the class has begun crafting their own school manifestos. It has been a brilliant week of creative thinking and hard work—well done, Year 3!
This week, Year 4 have immersed ourselves in our new core text Wonder, and our global theme of Identity and Diversity. We considered what 'normal' means and how disabilities cannot always be seen. We made predictions using conjunctions and evidence before thinking about the thoughts and feelings of someone with a disability, as well as their appearance.
Year 5 have enjoyed exploring their new core text this week - Too much trouble. The children also used their inference skills to understand how different characters were feeling throughout different events. This text links to our Curriculum learning of Crime and punishment in the Victorian era. During our first History lesson, we learnt about key events and key figures of the Victorian period.
This week, Year 6 have been immersing themselves into revision, ready for their end of key stage assessments. The children have worked tirelessly to achieve the best outcomes possible. They have been able to write their own short sotries using a variety of punctuation whilst also working hard to remember their arithmetic skills. To say the Year 6 teachers are proud of their attitude and hard work is an understatement. Keep it up Year 6, you've got this under control!
DEC have enjoyed social skills this week and reconnecting with their friends.
Jackson class celebrated St George's Day and enjoyed making shields to celebrate the patron saint of England as part of our British values. We have also started learning about the Roman Empire and cannot wait to learn more.
Adams class are looking forward to learning about crime during Victorian times this term.
Keeping our youth safe online! PC Rowan visited Delce Academy for a crucial assembly on online safety, responsible social media use and putting a stop to cyberbullying.
Children learned skills for staying safe in the digital space. Education is the best tool we have to ensure our children remain safe, kind and responsible whether they are online or not.
Every week, children are expected to engage in four core areas of study:
Arithmetic Skills: Children will be given math questions specifically linked to the topics they have been studying in class that week to help solidify their numerical fluency.
Weekly Spellings: Lists will be sent home each week. Children should practice these regularly in preparation for a spelling test the following week.
Daily Reading: We ask that children read at home for at least 15 minutes every day. This can be independent or with an adult. Please remember to sign the reading record book..
Termly Curriculum Grid: Each term, children receive a "Choice Grid" featuring various activities linked to their wider curriculum subjects (History, Science & Art etc). Children should select one task to complete each week.
SEND: A message SENCO Mr Palmer
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
Do your children seem more exhausted, tearful, or "difficult" now that the first week of school is over?
Reduce Verbal Input: When they get home this evening, skip the "How was your day?" interrogation. Use "declarative language" instead, like "I’ve put your favorite snack on the table," which requires no processing power to answer.
Sensory Diet Reset: The school environment is loud and bright. Balance this by creating a "sensory sanctuary" at home—think dimmed lights, weighted blankets, or noise-cancelling headphones to help their nervous system recalibrate.
Validate the Fatigue: If they are grumpy, try saying: "Your brain worked really hard this week learning new names and rules. It’s okay to feel tired."
Wishing the following children a Happy Birthday for those who have their birthday over the next two weeks!
