Delce news from the Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers
It's been another busy and rewarding week here at Delce Academy and I'm excited to share some of the highlights with you.
This week, we welcomed visitors who engaged our Year 6 children in fun and informative sessions about healthy eating. From learning about balanced meals to exploring different food groups, our Year 6 pupils gained valuable knowledge that will support their health and well-being.
PCSO Rowan returned to meet with our Year 5 students, this time focusing on the importance of choosing kind and respectful words. Through discussions, the children gained a deeper understanding of how their words can impact others' feelings and learned strategies for communicating positively.
Our recent Junior Leadership Team meeting was a testament to the fantastic leadership potential within our school. The team discussed innovative ways to promote a love of reading throughout the school, showcasing their passion and commitment to the learning environment.
I wanted to give a special shout-out to the incredibly dedicated team behind the Friends of Delce. Their tireless efforts continue to bring our community together and enrich the school experience for everyone. We are always looking for more parents and carers to join the Friends of Delce and contribute their talents and ideas. If you're interested in getting involved and supporting our school community, please don't hesitate to contact us.
And now, for a special performance highlight! Dyson class absolutely amazed us with their class assembly this week. The performance was delivered with creativity, enthusiasm, and teamwork, leaving everyone impressed and entertained.
We also hosted a successful workshop for Year 6 parents, providing information and guidance about the upcoming SATs assessments. It was wonderful to see so many parents engaged and committed to supporting their children's learning journey.
I'm incredibly proud of the positive energy and commitment displayed by our pupils, staff, and wider community this week. Keep a lookout for further updates on upcoming events and exciting developments!

'At Delce We Do Belong'
Our Core Value this term: PERSEVERANCE
Never Give Up: A Poem About Tiny Seeds and Big Dreams
Tiny seed with heart so bold,
Buried deep in winter's cold.
Dreams of leaves and sun above,
Pushes down with patient shove.
Inch by inch, it breaks the ground,
Roots dig deep, where strength is found.
Through darkness, rain, and wind it grows,
Nurturing life, the seed it knows.
Small sprout climbs toward the light,
Unafraid of day or night.
Bends but never breaks, you see,
Perseverance sets it free.
So remember, friend, when things are tough,
Be like the seed, be strong enough.
Keep trying, growing, reach for the sky,
For with perseverance, dreams can fly!
To promote our core value of PERSEVERANCE, we would like to invite our Delce family to read a story together at home.
This week’s recommendation is: Perseverance makes me stronger.
You can also sing along at home with our Perseverance song
Inventors
What a start to the term! The children of Inventors went on a journey during our first English lesson, we considered how we felt during the experience and how this links to the core text Paddington.
Year 3
This week in Year 3, the children have been looking at hazards in RHE. They have been identifying how to keep themselves safe and even created a role play advert on what to do in case of an emergency.
Year 4
Year 4, have explored cartography when immersing ourselves into our new core text for English, following our explorers theme. We also loved our skateboarding session with Rubicorn.

Uniform
Uniform Reminders: Looking Smart and Feeling Ready!
Looking smart in the correct uniform helps everyone feel at home and ready to learn. Here are some friendly reminders:
Dress the Part: Please ensure your child wears the full and correct uniform as outlined in the school handbook. This helps foster a sense of belonging and community.
Lost & Found Friend: Name tags are crucial! Labelling jackets, blazers, and other uniform items significantly increases the chances of lost items finding their way back.
Trainer Time: Please remember that trainers are only allowed for PE lessons. During the school day, regular school shoes are required.
Preloved Gems: Did you know? We offer a selection of preloved uniforms at the school office! This fantastic option is a sustainable and budget-friendly way to complete your child's uniform needs.
Together, let's ensure a positive and unified learning environment for all!
Don't forget to check the lost and found regularly for any misplaced items.

This week, Delce Academy was visited by a company called Rubicorn Skateboarding, who delivered a workshop to every class in the school across two days. The children were taught how to safely use a skateboard while wearing a helmet, arm and knee pads. Some children also learned a few tricks like flipping the skateboard with their feet and landing on top of it. All of the children really enjoyed this workshop.

Family and Community Information
Dyson Class Assembly
Dyson class proudly presented their learning from the previous term to their parents this week during Dyson Class Assembly. They even taught parents some Roman Numerals and Geographical language. The parents enjoyed looking through the books on display to celebrate the learning from a range of subjects.
PCSO Rowan: Using language for effect to be ‘cool’.
Year 4 had a special visitor this week when PCSO Rowan dropped by to chat about the power of language. The discussion focused on how we use words, exploring the difference between playful banter and hurtful language.
PCSO Rowan shared real-life examples and helped the children understand the potential consequences of their words, both online and offline. It was a thought-provoking session that encouraged empathy and responsible communication.
Remember, everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and our words have the power to build up or break down.
Comic Competition
Ahead of the book fair that is taking place from 7th March and the 12th March, the children have an exciting competition to win a £5 book token for the fair.
All they need to do is create a comic strip inspired by their favourite book and hand it in to their class teacher by Thursday 29th February. The winners will be announced on Friday 1st March.
Good Luck!
