Dear Parents and Carers
This week we have celebrated the money we have raised for children in need, thank you everyone for your efforts and support! Anti-bullying week brought meaningful discussions and activities in class, children are reflecting on their choices and recognising the impact they have on others and in the wider community. Year 3 enjoyed their VR session in school, learning about the human body, the children could not stop talking about the experience. Year 4 and the DEC children visited the historic dockyard in Chatham, exploring and learning about ships and how they operated during the war. We are proud to say it's been another busy week filled with fantastic learning opportunities!
Thank you to everyone for contributing to a wonderful week!
From the Delce Team - At Delce we do belong!
Our Core Value this term: Collaboration
What is collaboration?
Collaboration means working together to achieve a goal. It’s when we share ideas, listen to each other and help one another to get things done. By working as a team, we can solve problems more easily and come up with creative solutions. Collaboration teaches us to respect each other's strengths and support one another, making our community stronger and more connected!
This skill will help children in school and in all areas of life, as it teaches respect, teamwork and good communication. We encourage parents to talk with their children at home about how they can show collaboration at school, with friends and in the community. Thank you for supporting this important learning!
Thank you to everyone who came in wearing spots / something children in need related or their own clothes on Friday 15th November!! We have counted up the donations and we can announce that Delce Academy raised £188.26! Thank you all so much, the donations will go a long way to help the children in need.

Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed their visit from the Education Group this week. They were thoroughly immersed inside the human body, extending their Science knowledge through questioning. They showed fantastic respect at all times well done!
Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed their trip to The Chatham Dockyard this week. They went on board the HMS Cavalier and gained an insight into what life was like for crew during the war. The children loved making and firing their own rockets during their exciting workshops. Everyone was also able to experience an air raid whilst taking cover inside an air raid shelter. It was scary! Finally, the children explored the HMS Ocelot, a submarine used during the Cold war.
This week we have immersed into our core text 'Zane and the Hurricane' by Rodman Philbrick. The children enjoyed creating their own hurricanes in a jar! They were able to recall some facts about hurricanes and showed empathy for the main character Zane, who unfortunately finds himself stuck during a hurricane.
Year 6 have had a very different week this week. The children of Year 6 have undergone their first assessments of the year. The children have persevered, engaged well and showed exactly what they are capable of achieving. Well done and keep shining bright! The whole school are very impressed and proud of you all.
Adams class were amazing on the trip to the Dockyard to support their learning about WW2. We took part in making and firing rockets at a target, taking part in an air raid and exploring the submarine and war ship.

School site and safety
You can legally park opposite yellow zigzags. However, this can make crossing the road more dangerous, especially for children. Some schools have yellow zigzags on both sides of the road for this reason.
When picking up or dropping off children at schools, you should do the following:
Allow yourself plenty of time as the area is likely to be busy.
Do not park on yellow zigzag lines and avoid parking opposite them.
If you decide to park further away, please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways or access ways.
For further information on parking and road safety please visit Kent Police Road Safety

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
