Dear Parents and Carers
This second week back has been full of energy and excitement at school! The children have enjoyed fun and active PE lessons and our music sessions with the music teacher have been a hit. As the weather turns colder, we kindly remind parents and carers to ensure that children come to school in their correct uniform and bring a warm coat each day. PE kits should be brought in on a Monday and taken home Friday. Furthermore we have noticed that many different types of trump cards are appearing during break and lunchtime, a gentle reminder these should be kept at home. This half term, we are placing a strong emphasis on collaboration, fostering teamwork and community spirit. Additionally, we are proud to participate in Anti-Bullying Week, reinforcing the importance of kindness and respect in our school. Finally to end the week, we would like to thank everyone for taking part in 'Children in Need' and also for your generous donations!
At Delce We Do Belong!
Our Core Value this term: Collaboration
What is collaboration?
Collaboration means working together to achieve a goal. It’s when we share ideas, listen to each other and help one another to get things done. By working as a team, we can solve problems more easily and come up with creative solutions. Collaboration teaches us to respect each other's strengths and support one another, making our community stronger and more connected!
This skill will help children in school and in all areas of life, as it teaches respect, teamwork and good communication. We encourage parents to talk with their children at home about how they can show collaboration at school, with friends and in the community. Thank you for supporting this important learning!

Year 3 have been busy consolidating their understanding of multiplication by creating arrays with dienes blocks. This hands-on approach to learning allows them to visually explore multiplication concepts, making their new maths topic engaging and accessible.
In Year 4 this week we have been working hard writing a persuasive letter about our Rotary club shoe box appeal and researching World War 2 recipes in preparation for making a no-bake bread pudding later this term.
This week in Year 5, the children had a fantastic trip to St Justus Church. They listened respectfully to the Vicar about all the different celebrations Christians have to share their respect and devotion to Jesus and God.
Year 6 have delved into the depths of the United States of America. This week we have been able to identify every state of America. The children have learnt that each state represents one star on the American flag and each state has its own abbrieviation. The children enjoyed labelling and learning the names of each of the 50 states.
The DEC learned about the importance of Remembrance day and took part in a one minute silence on 11/11 at 11am to Remember those for fought for us in the war.
The DEC also enjoyed raising money for children in Need by dressing up in their own clothes.
Girls Football Team Match
The girls football Team played their first match of the season against Allington Primary School. Unfortunately the team lost 4-2 but there were a lot of positives to take away from a good performance.

School site and safety
You can legally park opposite yellow zigzags. However, this can make crossing the road more dangerous, especially for children. Some schools have yellow zigzags on both sides of the road for this reason.
When picking up or dropping off children at schools, you should do the following:
Allow yourself plenty of time as the area is likely to be busy.
Do not park on yellow zigzag lines and avoid parking opposite them.
If you decide to park further away, please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways or access ways.
For further information on parking and road safety please visit Kent Police Road Safety

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
