Our Core Value this term: Collaboration
What is collaboration?
This skill is invaluable for children, as it teaches respect, teamwork and good communication. We encourage parents to talk with their children about how they can demonstrate collaboration—at school, with friends and in the wider community.
Together we stand, hand in hand,
Building dreams across the land.
Each voice matters, every role,
Working together to reach our goal.
With listening ears and helping hands,
We find solutions, we understand.
Through respect and trust, we thrive,
Making our world a better place to live.
So let us join, both big and small,
For collaboration strengthens us all.
Let’s continue to inspire teamwork and cooperation, both in school and beyond! 🌟

Year 3 have been channeling their creativity and empathy by writing diary entries inspired by their core text, Greta and The Giants. Through these entries, they have explored the thoughts and feelings of the characters, deepening their understanding of the story's themes and messages.
This week Year 4 have worked hard to write their recount in the role of a Olive. We have ensured to include fronted adverbials, past progressive tense, past perfect tense and a range of conjunctions to vary sentence structure. We have also started learning what a free verse poem is ready to write our own poems related to evacuation.
This week Year 5 explored the rule of law, pressure groups and houses of Parliament. The children all presented something they would like to change and how it might impact their school life. They recognised the difference between the Monarch, House of Lords and House of Commons. After that, they enthusiastically played a game to see how much they could remember and discuss about the topics!
This week in year 6 we continued to explore circuits as part of our science topic. We have already researched series circuits and how to effectively build working circuits. In addition to this, we have learned all the different symbols for the components in a circuit and this week, we investigated the impact of changing the electrical current flowing through a circuit.
In RE this term DEC have been learning about Christianity and the main values and teachings. We have explored different churches and their stained glass windows and how some tell a story or show a significant figure. Jackson class created their own stained glass windows.
Please note - next week is the last week for afterschool Clubs. No clubs will be on during the last week of term

School site and safety
You can legally park opposite yellow zigzags. However, this can make crossing the road more dangerous, especially for children. Some schools have yellow zigzags on both sides of the road for this reason.
When picking up or dropping off children at schools, you should do the following:
Allow yourself plenty of time as the area is likely to be busy.
Do not park on yellow zigzag lines and avoid parking opposite them.
If you decide to park further away, please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways or access ways.
For further information on parking and road safety please visit Kent Police Road Safety

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
