Dear Parents and Carers
First of all, a warm welcome back to all pupils and staff at Delce. The first few days at school have been amazing and it warms my heart to see how the children have settled back into their school life with smiles and laughter.
The first term back in autumn often feels like a fresh start. The air is crisp, leaves are changing and there's a sense of new beginnings. Students return to classes, ready to dive into their studies with renewed energy. The excitement of seeing friends again, exploring new subjects and getting into a routine after the summer break creates a unique atmosphere across the school. It's a time to set goals, make plans and embrace the challenges of the academic year ahead. The autumn term marks the start of new opportunities and personal growth. We look forward to experiencing and exploring new things and we are excited for the year ahead.
Our value for this half term is Respect and we have already seen so many wonderful examples of this in our community.
Best wishes
Miss Stevens
At Delce We Do Belong!
Our Core Value this term: RESPECT
To promote our core value of RESPECT, we would like to invite our Delce family to read a story together at home.
This week’s recommendation is: A little respectful spot. "What does it mean to be respectful? Being respectful tells people you not only care about them but you also care about yourself too! Join a cute little yellow SPOT as he shows all the different ways to be respectful to people, places and things.
Get ready to embark on a journey through the learning achievements and activities of the week. From captivating classroom discoveries to inspiring moments of creativity, there's so much to admire and enjoy.
Let's dive in together and revel in the joy of learning!
I am so incredibly proud of our new Year 3's they have settled in Delce beautifully and shown enthusiasm in every aspect of their learning. This week we have delved into our core text 'What a waste.' We considered how animals around the world feel as they see rubbish in their homes along with exploring the features of a non fiction text.
We are thrilled to share how amazing our new Year 3 pupils have been! They’ve settled in wonderfully, and their learning has already been fabulous. This week, they have dived into our core text 'What a Waste' with great enthusiasm, exploring what it might feel like to have their classroom covered in rubbish and even imagining what it would be like to eat it! Their curiosity and creativity have made for an exciting start to the year.
Dyson class have impressed many adults this week by remembering and modelling our Delce expectations. I am so proud of you all. This week we have particularly enjoyed learning about solids, liquids and gases during our Science learning.
Sharman enjoyed learning all about solids, liquids and gases in Science this week. We used our bodies to demonstrate how the particles interact with each other. We then identified the different States of Matter.
Earhart class have immersed ourselves in our new core text 'Azzi in Between' by discovering what it feels like to be a refugee fleeing the country for safety. Well done Earhart class a fantastic first week.
It has been a pleasure to welcome back Rhodes class to Delce and start our year together.
They have worked incredibly hard consolidating their knowledge of roman numerals and progressing their place value skills.
Well done on a fantastic first week!
This week Dickens class have recalled their prior knowledge around Roman numerals. They had fun deciphering numbers and working out different patterns. Dickens class all agreed the number system we use today is much easier to work out! Well done everyone!
This week in Goulding class, we explored the importance and impact of the Equator on different countries. Additionally, we had our first ukulele session and worked together to memorise the parts of the instrument. Well done, I am so proud of you all!
Darwin class have had a great start to the term. This week in maths they explored part whole models and reviewed their learning around place value. The children were able to problem solve and fluently partition six digit numbers. Well done all!
Brunel have had a successful first week in Year 6. As we settle into the momentum of their final year at Delce, we immersed ourselves into a deep discussion about the Windrush Generation, who made the long journey from the Caribbean to the UK after the second World War. The children were sensitive surrounding the topic and asked many meaningful questions! Well done!
In Curie Class, we have been working hard on our arithmetic, working on accuracy and speed and taking care with our presentation.
DEC have had an amazing start to the term. The children have enjoyed reconnecting with friends and are adapting happily to the routines and interventions.
Mr Minlah is covering the teachers planning time this term and the children have been excited for him to teach.

Together, we will foster a culture of kindness, empathy, and inclusivity, where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

Family and Community Information
Hey Delce family, we’ve got some exciting news to share with you!
Parentkind – a charity that supports school PTAs - have teamed up with Asda, who is making millions of pounds available to donate to primary schools across the UK through their ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative. To support our PTA, all you have to do is opt-in through the Asda Rewards app, choose our school, shop and scan in store or shop online at Asda.com.
Between 2nd September and 30th November 2024 – every time you shop with Asda using your Asda Rewards app, Asda will donate 0.5% of the value of your shop to your chosen Primary school. Also, every time somebody opts-in to support our Primary school, Asda will give an additional £1 to the school Cashpot. Plus, it doesn’t stop there – Asda are also giving £50 to every school to get them started.
The supermarket has joined forces with Joe Wicks to support the initiative – look out for the TV advert, radio ads and social media coverage!
It’s as easy as 1,2,3
1. Download the Asda Rewards app, register and opt-in to Cashpot for Schools
2. Choose our Primary School – either searching by name or postcode (ME20 7JU)
3. Shop instore across Asda and George, or online at Asda.com and start filling your Cashpot as you shop
Asda does the rest, all money raised will be donated to schools to spend on the things they need the most. Our aim is to use the donations to provide additional enrichment opportunities and experiences for all children within the school.
Remember, anyone can sign up – so start spreading the news and raising funds for our school. Speak to Grandparents, friends, family anyone you see.
This initiative is on top of the existing Asda Rewards benefits you get as a shopper – so you won’t lose out on any of your own earnings or Cashpot, so everyone is a winner!

Thank you for your continued support!
Pick-up and drop-off times are busy outside schools. This can cause an increased safety risk to both children and parents.
You can legally park opposite yellow zigzags. However, this can make crossing the road more dangerous, especially for children. Some schools have yellow zigzags on both sides of the road for this reason.
When picking up or dropping off children at schools, you should do the following:
Allow yourself plenty of time as the area is likely to be busy.
Do not park on yellow zigzag lines and avoid parking opposite them.
If you decide to park further away, please be considerate of local residents and avoid blocking driveways or access ways.
For further information on parking and road safety please visit Kent Police Road Safety

A message from our SENCO, Mr Palmer...
Mr. Palmer's Parent Drop Ins
Each week Mr. Palmer will be available 9am-10am every Friday in 15 minute slots to discuss any concerns.
If you would like one of the 15 Minute Slots to discuss something, please use the QR code below to access the booking system.
Mr Palmer's Top Tip this week!
Has your child been anxious coming back to school?
Encourage them to consider the worse case scenario and what they or you can do if that were to happen. Remember to validate that feelings saying "I can see if that happened it would be scary" before encouraging them to face their fears. What's going through their mind is almost always worse than the real thing!
If relevant staff are not available and your concern is urgent you can contact:
Medway Children’s Services directly on 01634 334466 and / or,
The Police on 101 (non-emergency) or,
999 (emergency) depending on the level of concern
If you have a safeguarding concern about a member of staff, please inform the Headteacher, Miss Stevens.
Wishing these children a Happy Birthday for birthdays over the coming week!

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
For more details visit our website.
