Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to another busy and energetic term! The children have returned from their half-term break full of enthusiasm and we have already had two fantastic weeks. Highlights included a wonderful educational trip to the Guildhall Museum for Year 5 and Rhodes class, a vibrant and sporty World Cup celebration and a lovely conclusion to the week immersing ourselves in Art and French. Thank you for your continued support in helping the children settle back into their routines so beautifully and have a wonderful weekend!
Kind regards,
Miss North

Our Core Value this term: Responsibility
For pupils, responsibility means taking ownership of their own learning, action and choices. In daily school life, this looks like arriving to class on time, coming prepared and putting honest effort into your learning. Beyond learning, responsibility also means managing personal behaviour—such as admitting to mistakes when they happen, treating peers and staff with respect and helping to keep the classrooms areas clean. Ultimately, it is about understanding individual choices directly impact both your own success and the well-being of the wider school community.
Children in assembly ahead of the day find out about Art & French Day.
Les enfants réunis en assemblée avant la journée découvrent le programme de la Journée de l'art et du français
Children had fun guessing who the Mona Lisa teacher was! We had a wonderful photo booth with props, a whole school art competition based on famous artists from France. Finally, in class we constructed the Eiffel Tower using spaghetti and marshmallows!
French food tasting took place in the Delce had a professional french butler to serve food - oui oui Monsier Kavanagh!
Today, our school grounds were buzzing with colour and excitement as children arrived wearing football shirts from around the world. This special dress up day was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the rich diversity within our school. Pupils proudly wore colours representing their own heritage, while others chose to support the country they predict will win the upcoming World Cup. It was a wonderful reminder of how sport can bring us all together!
What is the World Cup?
The World Cup is staged every four years. The 2026 tournament is the largest ever, with many countries competing. Using world rankings, the teams have been drawn into 12 groups of four countries. The top two teams in each group automatically go through to the next phase - which is known as the round of 32.
Fun Fact
This year's edition of the World Cup will be the biggest ever with an expanded field of 48 teams, three host countries and 16 stadiums staging the record 104 matches over the 39-day tournament.
We had Sarah Murphy from Kent Fire and Rescue Service at Delce! The sessions include information about their services and what to do incase of a fire.
The children at Delce also learned about calling 999, preventing fires and how to keep ourselves safe in the event of a fire at home!
The workshop was very informative and the children went away with a better sense of awareness around fire safety.
"I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all at your lovely school, I really enjoyed coming along and meeting all your students today, they were so great."
In Year 3, we have been learning our time tables. We used a different and fun way this time. We created different patterns from our 2-12 tables. Look at our outcomes.
Year 4 have been having enormous fun, using Scratch to program a dialogue between 2 Picoh robots. We had to think about what they were saying and when the Picoh's would respond, ensuring that we used a sequence that enabled a 'wait' for a response time.
Year 5 had a brilliant time stepping back in time at the Guildhall Museum on Rochester High Street! Our young historians loved diving into the city's grim and gripping history of crime and punishment. Learning about the old local prison and spooky prison ships was a huge hit, and some children even got to dress up as prisoners!
This week, Year 6 have been diving into a brilliant short story called Francis as our new writing hook; the children have absolutely loved it! We've been using the story to write some fantastic, vivid character descriptions. We've also been looking at the features writers use to build up suspense.
DEC have started transition within Adams and Jackson class and we are working on building resilience to new adults, children and classrooms for those moving on to new schools and those moving classes within DEC. To help with building relationships we have taken PE offsite to the local park so the children can play and be active together in ways that are comfortable, while showing safe behaviours and friendship skills.
Our Peer Mediators are a specially trained group of children who help others resolve minor playground disagreements, fall-outs and conflicts peacefully. By listening carefully to both sides, staying neutral and helping children find their own fair solutions, they play a massive role in keeping our lunchtimes happy and safe for everyone.
SEND: A message SENCO Mr Palmer
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
Is your child already overwhelmed by the busy final term? With weeks still left until summer, the sudden influx of school trips, sports days, and changes to routine can trigger intense anxiety and fatigue for SEND children.
Visual Timelines: Map out the remaining weeks on a calendar, highlighting event days so they can mentally prepare.
Keep Home Hyper-Predictable: Maintain strict dinner and bedtimes to anchor them through the school chaos.
Drip-Feed Information: Discuss upcoming events step-by-step rather than all at once.
Wishing the following children a Happy Birthday!
