Respect Collaboration Kindness Perseverance Honesty Responsibility
Dear parents and carers,
As we fast approach the end of another busy yet exciting term, I would like to take this moment to reflect on the achievements of our children and thank everyone who has contributed to such a positive final few weeks.
This week, the children had the exciting opportunity to meet their new class teachers during a successful transition afternoon. They returned full of enthusiasm and are already looking forward to the year ahead. They will also be bringing home their end of year reports - a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all they have achieved this year.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all our teachers and children for their hard work in preparing and sharing their Global Outcome projects. It was fantastic to welcome so many parents and carers into school to celebrate the children's learning - your support makes a real difference. We are also incredibly proud of our Year 6 children, who are preparing to take their next steps as they leave us at the end of this term - they will be missed! However they are truly excited to share their end of year performance with the school and parents and carers.
With the warm weather continuing, we kindly remind families to ensure children come to school with a hat and water bottle each day to stay safe in the heat.
As the summer break approaches, we wish all our families a restful and enjoyable holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September, ready for another fantastic year ahead.
Warmest regards,
Mr Harris and the team at Delce Academy
Our Core Value this term: Responsibility
This term at school, we're excited to be focusing on the important value of Responsibility! Responsibility means understanding that our choices and actions have an impact and that we can be trusted to do what's right.
We'll be exploring how we can be responsible for our belongings, our learning and our behaviour, as well as how being responsible helps us to be great friends and citizens.
At home, you could help your child explore responsibility by giving them small chores, like tidying their toys or helping to set the table, or by encouraging them to take care of a pet or plant. Even simple things like remembering to pack their own school bag or choosing their own clothes can build a sense of responsibility!
Changes to End-of-Term Finishing Times
We're writing to let you know about a slight but important change to our school's finishing times at the end of the Christmas, Easter, and Summer terms.
Starting in July 2025, the school day will conclude at 2:00 PM on the very last day of term before these major holidays.
We've made this decision to align our holiday finishing times with schools in our local area and Partnership. We believe this adjustment will offer greater consistency for families with children attending different schools and help make those holiday transitions a bit smoother for everyone.
We understand that any change to school timings might require you to adjust your family's arrangements. That's why we wanted to give you plenty of advance notice about this upcoming change, which will take effect from the end of the Summer Term in July 2025.
Each year we offer the Young Eco Engineers project to our Year 6's, this year we offered it to Adams Class within the DEC. Both groups of children have truly embodied the spirit of teamwork and collaboration. Through countless challenges and obstacles, we have honed our problem-solving skills, finding innovative solutions and supporting one another every step of the way. Along the path, we have created unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime, moments filled with laughter, determination and camaraderie. The children have cheered each other on with unwavering enthusiasm, celebrating each victory and overcoming every setback as a united front. On race day, our collective effort and school spirit shone brightly, representing our school with pride and excellence.
I am so proud of you and all you have achieved well done!
Year 3 were incredibly brave when sharing what they have learnt this year. Thank you to all the parents who joined us!
We are very proud of all of the children in Sharman, Earhart and Dyson class for the hard work they put into their Global Theme morning. They demonstrated some of their learning from Wonder - focusing on Diversity and Equity. The children also enjoyed sharing some of their History learning - especially demonstrating a battle scene between the Romans and the Icini tribe.
Year 5 worked incredibly hard to showcase their summer term learning. They performed a scene from Romeo and Juliet and even treated us to an Elizabethan dance! Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to explore their learning. The children were so happy and proud to share their achievements with you!
Year 6 have worked tirelessly with their production, putting on an amazing dress rehearsal for the whole school to see. It was evident to see the hard work, dilligence and perseverance they have endured during the rehearsal stage. It was by far, their best performance yet!
As we are coming to the end of term 6 - DEC team have been building memories with the year 6's who will be leaving us for new adventures. Good luck, we will miss you all so much Levi, Ellis, Luca and Freddy!!! DEC team have also been building relationships with new children joining the DEC. Well done team DEC you are amazing! keep safe over the summer and don't forget to share any experiences on Tapestry.

SEND
A message from our SENCO, Mr Palmer...
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
Do you find during the school holidays your children display more challenging behaviours or anxieties?
Try creating a calendar for the holidays. What days are you going out? What days are you staying in? What days are you saving for rainy day activities?
This will help reduce anxiety and worry and also provide some structure and routine to an unstructured time of the year.
Got a question or a concern about SEND? Book to get a 15 minute slot with Mr Palmer to discuss any concerns and strategies that may help! Just scan the QR code on the poster to book your slot.
Wishing the following children a Happy Birthday for those for the next week & over the summer holidays!

Healthy Snacks!
A reminder about break-time snacks.
To support the health and wellbeing of all our pupils, we ask that children bring only healthy snacks to school for break times. This helps us to promote a positive and healthy eating environment for everyone.
Examples of healthy snacks include:
Fresh fruit (e.g., apples, bananas, grapes, berries)
Vegetable sticks (e.g., carrots, cucumber, peppers)
Yogurt
Rice cakes
Small portion of cheese
Homemade popcorn (no added sugar)
We appreciate your support in reinforcing healthy eating habits. Your cooperation ensures that break times contribute positively to our children's energy levels and overall wellbeing.
As we are now in the summer term, we are looking for enthusiastic parents and carers to join the Friends of Delce Academy and help make a positive impact on our school community.
Being part of this group is a fantastic way to support school events, fundraising initiatives and create memorable experiences for our children. Whether you can offer a little time or a lot, every contribution makes a difference!
We also welcome parent helpers to assist with activities such as school trips, special events and classroom support. If you’re interested in getting involved, please speak to a member of staff or contact the school office.

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
For more details visit our website.
