Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of a truly spectacular year at Delce, it is wonderful to reflect on how much our children have achieved. From the high-energy fun of Sports Day to the immense pride of our end of year learning showcase, where children brilliantly presented their hard work to others and it has been a joy to watch them shine. Some of our pupils also enjoyed a fantastic, inspiring visit to the Glass Box Theatre recently! The excitement doesn't stop here either, we still have the highly anticipated Year 6 production to look forward to, as well as our final enrichment treat of the year our end-of-term inflatables to celebrate our amazing children!
I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all our dedicated staff, supportive parents and incredible children for making this year at Delce so fantastic. I wish you all a safe and wonderful summer when it arrives!
Best wishes, Miss North

Our Core Value this term: Responsibility
We all experience change throughout our lives. Some changes we might experience are:
starting a new school or class
changes in our friendship groups
moving house
having a new brother or sister
losing something or someone important to us
You can explore change by using this BBC website and having a chat with your children, its a great way to encourage and understand mental and emotional wellbeing whatever the age! https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zcv7h4j#z23hvj6
If you are struggling or worried about changes in your life, it might be helpful to think about what is supporting you in this moment while things feel uncertain.
If you are struggling or worried about changes in your life, it might be helpful to think about what is supporting you in this moment while things feel uncertain.
Can you write a list of five things that support you?
Here are some ideas to get you started:
The oxygen in the air
The chair you're sitting on
Access to food and water
Having fun with friends
Reading a good book
Watching your favourite TV programme
When things seem challenging, can you go back to your list and remember all the things that are supporting you through this period of change?
They might remind you that not everything is changing and that there are many things you can rely on.
What an incredible, jam-packed year it has been! We are absolutely bursting with pride over how much our Year 3 students have grown, learned, and achieved over the past year. Stepping into Year 3 comes with a lot of changes, but our students rose to the challenge beautifully. They quickly mastered the new routines of the school and, most importantly, learned how to work together as a brilliant team. The kindness, collaboration, and peer support on display every day have been a joy to watch. We are so incredibly proud of every single child in Year 3. They have brought energy, curiosity, and determination to the classroom every single day. Thank you for a fantastic year, Year 3—we wish you the absolute best of luck as you take on Year 4! You are going to be amazing.
To consolidate and showcase our learning on Romans, we performed a 'Mock Trial'. The children were divided into 2 groups, the Britons put the Romans on trial for crimes committed when they invaded Britain. We heard from the prosecution and defence before delivering a verdict, taking into account the innovations we still use today. Year 4 has been a wonderful journey of growth and maturity, filled with new discoveries, fresh experiences, and lifelong learning, and of course the Multiplication check! We are extremely proud of their achievements.
Year 5 have been having a wonderful time learning how to sew this week! They are putting their new skills to use by making their own beautiful masks for a Romeo and Juliet Masquerade Ball. The classroom has been full of excitement as the children practice threading needles and trying out different stitches. We are so proud of their hard work and creativity—the finished masks are going to look amazing!
As we approach the end of term, we also want to say a huge congratulations to all of Year 5 for a fantastic and successful year. You have worked so hard, and we wish you all the very best as you step up into Year 6!
🌟 This week, we had the pleasure of taking Year 6 to Margate beach. The children's behavior was exemplary throughout the day, beautifully reflecting all of the Delce values; It was a privilage to see them representing the school so wonderfully. Well done Year 6! 🌟
❤️ It has been an absolute privilege to watch them grow into such mature, respectful, and inspiring young people. We are immensely proud of each and every one of them, and we wish them all the best of luck as they take their next big step into secondary school! Thank you for such an amazing year ❤️
Year 6's have enjoyed the experience of going to the beach on the train and the London theatre show, The Lion King. They loved spotting known buildings in London and seeing the blimp from the train on the way home. It has been a pleasure watching the children grow and flourish and we have enjoyed their journey and hope we have given them amazing memories and skills for their future progress.
Children are working hard to stay regulated in the heat, please can they bring their water bottles so they can have a drink at their table.
SEND: A message SENCO Mr Palmer
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
Are you finding that the summer heat is triggering more meltdowns, sleeplessness, or sensory overload at home for your SEND child?
When the weather gets hot, home can stop feeling like a safe haven. Heat disrupts sleep, magnifies sensory discomfort, and makes emotional regulation much harder for neurodivergent children.
Create a Daytime "Cooling Station": Keep a basket of damp washcloths, ice packs wrapped in soft towels, and water misting bottles in the living room for easy, playful cooling.
Tackle Sleep Heat Early: Keep bedroom curtains closed all day to block the sun. Before bed, put your child’s pillowcases or lightweight pajamas in a clean plastic bag and pop them in the freezer for 15 minutes.
Track Hydration Visually: Because of interoception challenges, your child might not register thirst. Fill a special jug or use a visual reward chart to track drinking water throughout the day.
Offer Oral-Sensory Coolers: Smoothies, ice lollies, or frozen fruit provide strong oral input that can actively calm a dysregulated nervous system while lowering body temperature.
Simplify Outings: Stick to shaded parks or air-conditioned spaces, and keep expectations low. Heat saps energy, so plan for extra downtime and quiet sensory play at home.
Wishing the following children a Happy Birthday for over the Summer!
