Respect Collaboration Kindness Perseverance Honesty Responsibility
Dear Delce Family,
A Warm Welcome Back!
On behalf of the staff at Delce Academy, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all our pupils and their families as we return for the Spring Term. I hope you all enjoyed a restful and joyful Christmas break, filled with laughter and cherished moments with loved ones. We are excited to be back and looking forward to another successful term of learning and growth.
I am also delighted to announce that Mr. Bower will be taking on the role of Phase Lead for Years 5 and 6. Mr. Bower brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to this position, and I am confident that he will provide excellent support and guidance to our older pupils.
We look forward to working with you all to ensure a happy and productive term.
Kind regards,
Mr Harris
Our Core Value this term: Kindness
This term, we will be focusing on the important value of kindness.
Kindness is about being thoughtful and caring towards others. It's about:
Helping others: Lending a hand, offering support, and being there for our friends.
Using kind words: Saying "please" and "thank you," offering compliments, and encouraging others.
Showing empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings of others, and being compassionate.
Being inclusive: Welcoming everyone and making sure everyone feels included and valued.
We will be exploring kindness through:
Class discussions and activities: We'll talk about what kindness means, share stories, and share ways to show kindness.
Kindness challenges: We'll have fun challenges throughout the term to encourage acts of kindness, such as "Random Acts of Kindness".
Circle time: We'll use circle time to share our feelings, practice active listening, and build a strong and supportive classroom community.
We encourage you to discuss kindness with your child at home. Talk about how you show kindness to others in your daily lives. Let's work together to create a kind and compassionate school environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

This week, Year 3 have been developing their understanding of emergency situations in RHE by exploring what they would say if they needed to call 999. Through role-playing and discussions, they practiced how to clearly communicate important information and considered the appropriate actions to take in various scenarios.
This week, Year 4 have been learning about classification categories for animals. We enjoyed working collaboratively, asking questions and creating classification keys to determine which characteristics each animal had.
This week the children have immersed themselves into the world of the Greeks! They enjoyed food tasting, listening to Greek music as well as taking part in some fantastic role play during English. This half term the children will be learning about Ancient Greece, they will explore myths and legends, as well as learn about their culture and rich history.
This week Year 6 have been working on their Science investigations. The children have been looking at the observable characteristics for living organisms and how they can classify them using their similarities and differences. The children have investigated how many different types of species there living alongside us on Earth.
The DEC have enjoyed creating their new sock puppets for Hamish and Milo. We will be working on our resilience in this terms topic.
We have enjoyed sharing our news with each other and remembering the rules and expectations after our time off.

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
For more details visit our website.
