Dear Parents and Carers,
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 children as they continue to prepare for their upcoming SATs, their resilience and positive attitudes have been truly wonderful to see. All the children have also been immersing themselves enthusiastically into their brand new learning topics this week! With the arrival of the warmer weather, we have had a chat with the children about staying comfortable while still maintaining our school uniform standards. To help them stay cool, please ensure your child brings a named water bottle and a sun hat to school every day so they can remain hydrated and protected during break and lunchtimes.
Kind regards,
Miss North

Year 3 have been learning about Newspapers and their purpose. We looked at the features of a newspaper to support us in our learning so we can write our own about "The Accidental Prime Minister.
Year 4 have been learning how to compare, order and round decimals in Maths. In English we have revisited expanded noun phrases and fronted adverbials ready to write our balanced argument based on our core text Wonder next week.
Year 5 have started their learning of calculating the perimeter of rectilinear shapes in Maths this week. The children have had to find missing sides and use their multiplication facts to calculate the perimeter efficiently. In English, we have started to explore the features of a narrative before we write our own ending to the story of Too Much Trouble. We have revisited expanded noun phrases and figurative language in our character descriptions.
This week, Year 6 completed a major literary project, exploring and reviewing 12 different books. Crucially, they collaborated closely to read the hook of each story, using fantastic expression and enthusiasm. As a result of this, the children's top suggestions will now be formally proposed to have their prefured book in every school in the Inspire Partnership.
⭐ On top of this, the children have all showed perseverance and determination in preperation for their SATS. We are so very proud of you! ⭐
As part of DEC support, we offer a range of sensory activities to support the children's sensory diet, Sensory diet activities are essential because they provide the specific, tailored neurological input a person needs to regulate their nervous system, helping them maintain a "just right" state of focus and emotional stability throughout the day. This week DEC have enjoyed slime and they have taken advantage of the weather to take these activities outside. It is important for children to wear school uniforms so they can feel part of DEC team and that they do not spoil their home clothes.
Every week, children are expected to engage in four core areas of study:
Arithmetic Skills: Children will be given math questions specifically linked to the topics they have been studying in class that week to help solidify their numerical fluency.
Weekly Spellings: Lists will be sent home each week. Children should practice these regularly in preparation for a spelling test the following week.
Daily Reading: We ask that children read at home for at least 15 minutes every day. This can be independent or with an adult. Please remember to sign the reading record book..
Termly Curriculum Grid: Each term, children receive a "Choice Grid" featuring various activities linked to their wider curriculum subjects (History, Science & Art etc). Children should select one task to complete each week.
SEND: A message SENCO Mr Palmer
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
Are you finding that the lead-up to SATs week is causing anxiety or stress for your child? Testing can be overwhelming, but here is how you can help:
Maintain routines: Keep mornings predictable and ensure plenty of rest.
Reduce pressure: Remind your child that tests don't define their worth. Give them some strengths they have that they can focus on and remind them of times when they have been really succesful
Wishing the following children a Happy Birthday for those who have their birthday over the next two weeks!
