Attendance
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic week we’ve had at Delce! From the high-energy Great Athlete Challenge to our school-wide celebrations for NSPCC Number Day, the building has been buzzing with excitement. It was a joy to see the children dive into different math activities and show such incredible spirit during our first-ever athlete event.
A huge thank you to our parents and carers for your continued support. Don’t forget to check the TTRS Battle of the Bands leaderboard—we can’t wait to announce the winning class in Monday’s Merit Assembly.
Kind regards,
Miss North

Record of Achievement
Our Core Value this term: Kindness
It doesn’t take a grand event, or money to be spent. It’s found within a simple "Hi," or helping someone passing by.
A bridge built where a wall had been, a quiet way to let light in. For kindness is a gentle art, that starts within everyones heart.
Like ripples on a quiet lake, the little choices that we make travel further than we see, to change our whole community.
Year 3 were very lucky to engage within a Magent workshop that enabled them to extened their learning for the term. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities from making the magnets dance, to looking at forces through experiment. They modeled our values beautifully throughout the session.
Year 4 were lucky enough to have a visit from a Ranger and her collection of animals. The Ranger was very informative about the different species. We were able to ask questions, refering back to what we have learnt over the past two terms, about characteristics of different animal groups and classification. We had the amazing opportunity of holding and touching the animlas, including Jimmy the Gecko and Banoffee the Python!
Year 5 have been using a crumble controller to bring their code to life. By clipping wires from the controller to small LED lights called 'sparkles' they are learning how to build a working circuit. They have been using a simple computer programme where they snap instruction blocks together to tell the lights exactly what to do.
Year six thoroughly enjoyed learning all about DNA when they participated in the Science workshop. They became forensic scientists and took their own fingerprints before identifying which type of fingerprints they had. We also learnt about genes and discovered if we had a specific gene that makes broccoli and brussel sprouts taste bitter. Most of us did not have the gene and should therefore really enjoying eating sprouts! Finally we removed the DNA from a strawberry and learned that the strawberry has DNA that is approximatley 50% the same as ours. The year 6 children were amazed by this and are looking forward to learning more about ourselves.
Jackson Class was very excited to have a response from the King after sending him letters about pollution and sustainability as part of term 2's learning.
DEC has enjoyed an internet safety workshop and a work out with the athlete Heather Olver to raise money for resources that promote physical activity. Heather's badminton journey began when her parents signed her and her brother up for a local club. Her career soared, leading to a European bronze in 2010, double Commonwealth silver in 2014, as well as multiple national titles. Please bring your sponsor money in by next Thursday.
Every week, children are expected to engage in four core areas of study:
Arithmetic Skills: Children will be given math questions specifically linked to the topics they have been studying in class that week to help solidify their numerical fluency.
Weekly Spellings: Lists will be sent home each week. Children should practice these regularly in preparation for a spelling test the following week.
Daily Reading: We ask that children read at home for at least 15 minutes every day. This can be independent or with an adult. Please remember to sign the reading record book..
Termly Curriculum Grid: Each term, children receive a "Choice Grid" featuring various activities linked to their wider curriculum subjects (History, Science & Art etc). Children should select one task to complete each week.
From the moment she arrived, Heather brought an infectious enthusiasm that captivated students across all year groups. It wasn't just a talk; it was an interactive experience. The children were thrilled to:
Participate in high-energy fitness circuits led by Heather herself.
Hear firsthand accounts of what it takes to compete at the Olympic Games.
See that with dedication and a positive mindset, any goal is achievable.
The smiles on the children's faces and their eager participation made it clear just how much they enjoyed meeting a real-life sporting hero.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Parents
Events like these are made possible by the incredible strength of our school community. We want to extend a huge thank you to all the parents and guardians for your overwhelming support and generosity with the sponsorship money.
Because of your efforts, we have raised significant funds that will go directly toward:
New sports equipment to support our PE lessons.
Enhancing our playground gear for active break times.
We are deeply grateful for your continued partnership.
Our school was buzzing with mathematical energy for NSPCC Number Day! It was fantastic to see so many children "Dressing up for Digits," filling the classrooms with creativity. Throughout the day, children dived into engaging math challenges and interactive puzzles, proving that numeracy can be both fun and impactful. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our parents for your incredible support and donations. Your generosity helps the NSPCC continue its vital work protecting children, making this a truly successful day for a great cause.

A message from our SENCO, Mr Palmer...
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
Are you finding children are finding being stuck in during rainy days challenging?
Try giving the children som heavy work to do. Fill a laundry basket with books and push it across the floor or move between rooms like a frog or an elephant. This heavy work will help to lose energy without heightening the child even more.
Please see workshops being run by the local authority around supporting your child. Please sign up on the QR codes. Please let Mr Palmer know if you are having any problems.
SAFER INTERNET Day-Tuesday 9th February 2026
Everyone’s talking about AI and with many children and young people hearing about and using AI online, it’s important they have the skills and confidence to make safe choices when they are using smart technology.
This Safer Internet Day we are exploring the impact of AI on all of our lives, looking at how AI can be used for good and giving advice and guidance that empowers people to use AI safely and responsibly.
Consider how using AI can impact you and other people
Like a lot of other technology, AI can save us time and energy. You could use it to find the answer to a question, to check your spelling, or to create images or videos. Whilst AI can be a great tool, it’s important that we think about when and how we are using AI. Don’t use it in place of our own thinking and creativity, or to do things that may upset or worry other people.
Understand where AI technology is being used and the impact it can have
From summaries on search engines, to voice assistants and photo editing tools, AI powered features are being added to many of the apps and devices we use day-to-day.
Look out for information and warnings notifying you where AI technology is in use or where content has been created using AI. Help your child to recognise these too. Remember, AI can make some tasks simpler but may also collect data about you and your family, or share unreliable information, so consider how to use it safely and responsibly.
Thank you for supporting safer internet use!
Wishing the following children a Happy Birthday for those who have their birthday over the next three weeks!
