Respect Collaboration Kindness Perseverance Honesty Responsibility
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to this week's newsletter! The autumn term is certainly flying by, and the effort and enthusiasm displayed by our pupils fills me with pride.
This week, we had the distinct pleasure of hosting our Global Outcome Assemblies. It was wonderful to see so many of you attend and share in the children's learning journey. The assemblies were a spectacular culmination of their hard work, showcasing just how deeply they have engaged with their current topics. A massive well done to all the children for demonstrating such high-level thinking and understanding. They have shown genuine passion and have made their teachers, and the whole school, incredibly proud!
As we head into December, the school is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming festivities!
Please mark your calendars for next Friday 12th December, which will be a particularly jolly day:
Christmas Jumper Day: We encourage all children to come to school wearing their most festive Christmas jumpers!
Christmas Dinner: Our catering team is preparing a delicious Christmas dinner for the children to enjoy together.
These events are always wonderful occasions for the whole school community, and we look forward to sharing in the festive cheer with your children.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Warmest regards,
Miss North

Our Core Value this term: Collaboration
This half term we are focusing on our core value - COLLABORATION
This week some of the JLT, along with the head boy and head girl explored the concept of collaboration in our school. They were asked the following questions, have a read to find out what they said!
How well do you feel different year groups or classes are currently working together? Can you give an example?
We have seen Y6 classes mixing to interview each other for a learning task
We have seen Y5 working together brilliantly, when completing tasks
Y3 completed a DT project using recycling they put on a fashion show
Y4 have been helping each other concentrate when writing poems
What is the most successful example of collaboration you've seen between children in the school?
We have seen whole class reading sessions, when they are echo reading. We have also seen children respond to their teachers all at once showing full body listening.
Active maths, children collaborate by working together to complete activities.
Do you think children in our school find it easy or tricky to work with others they don't usually sit or play with?
We are not sure because they might be apprehensive about someone new. We also think sometimes sitting next to someone new isn't easy.
Have you seen teachers collaborating with others?
The teachers enjoy what they do, they always enjoy helping children. Although they have a bit of a banter, they love working and collaborating with each other. We always see teachers come in and check on each other, they collaborate and help when they plan the learning for us.
Year 3 are so proud of our 'Trashion Show'. It was pleasing to see it come together considering the absences that had occurred during dress rehearsals. Your costumes were very unique and showed a clear understanding about recycle, reuse and reduce waste.
Well done!
The Year 4 Global Outcome was a wonderful display of learning and community spirit. The children shared their understanding of historical events by reading moving poems about evacuation during wartime. They also read out letters for the shoebox appeal, showcasing their excellent communication skills and commitment to helping others. Parents thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to look through their children's books, lots of engaging discussions around the learning journey. A sincere thank you to all the parents who attended; your support is invaluable and truly appreciated by the children and staff.
A highlight of the outcome was the children's detailed science explanations about natural disasters. They expertly showcased their learning about Natural Disasters. Parents were thoroughly engaged in the discussions, exploring the learning journey documented in their children's books and asking fantastic questions. We are incredibly proud of the learning they have completed and the manner in which they presented their work. A sincere thank you to all the parents who attended, your support is invaluable and truly appreciated by the children and staff.
The Year 6 Global Outcome, inspired by their core text Stella and the Starlight, the presentation from the children was moving and informative. It was a true display of maturity and deep understanding as the children focused on the vital theme of people standing against racism.
The outcome featured a brilliant, collaborative presentation where the children discussed themes of courage, acceptance and social justice drawn from the book. They finished off with a fantastic song and went on to share their learning and books. Thank you once again to the parents who joined us. Your support in celebrating their challenging and inspiring work means the world to the children and staff.
Jackson class have been making recipes from the war as part of our DT learning. We discussed how more people were able to grow their own food in the countryside but in the city most people had to rely solely on rations. Our stew was made with English vegetables that could have been grown in the countryside.
Lots of Children have been unwell in the DEC this week. We have hand sanitisers in each room and asking children to wash their hands regularly. I hope everyone is feeling better and enjoys the weekend.

A message from our SENCO, Mr Palmer...
Mr. Palmer's Strategy of the Week!
Are you finding as we get closer to Christmas, your children are finding remaining calm and regulated more challenging?
This will especially be a challenge going into the holiday period where they lose the structure of the school time. To alleviate this, try to put in place a routine for each day. A routine for morning and evening will help the children to know what they need to do and therefore feel more safe a certain in any out of routine activities.
We love seeing so many of our students choosing active travel like bikes and scooters for the journey to and from school! As the weather changes, we want to share two important reminders to ensure the safety of everyone during our busy drop-off and pick-up times.
We know electric scooters (e-scooters) are becoming increasingly popular. However, their speed and quiet nature can pose a risk in the crowded areas immediately surrounding the school. Please be mindful of the students and parents on the road. Public Road Use: Privately owned electric scooters are currently illegal to use on public roads, pavements and footpaths in the UK. Modelling Safety: We ask parents and older siblings who use e-scooters to model safety and caution when approaching the school area. Be mindful that children dart quickly, and high speeds are dangerous near pedestrians.
The Mandatory Rule:
All wheeled transport—including bikes, manual kick scooters and electric scooters—must be walked once you cross the school boundary/gate and placed in the designated allocated area in the school.
Thank you for your cooperation in reinforcing these rules. By slowing down and being aware in these busy areas, we keep our entire community safer!
Wishing the following children a Happy Birthday for those who have their birthday over the next two weeks!

As we are now in the autumn term, we are looking for enthusiastic parents and carers to join the Friends of Delce Academy and help make a positive impact on our school community.

Complaints procedures
At Delce, we aim to meet our statutory obligations when responding to complaints from our parents. Parents should follow our Complaints Policy that explains the procedures that should be followed.
Stage 1: Informal
The complainant should raise the complaint as soon as possible with the relevant member of staff or the headteacher as appropriate, either in person or by letter, telephone or email. If the complainant is unclear who to contact or how to contact them, they should contact the school office.
If the complaint is not resolved informally, it will be escalated to a Stage 2 formal complaint. The school will maintain a log of informal complaints and review this on a termly basis.
Stage 2: Formal
If the issue cannot be resolved through informal action the complainant should inform the headteacher in writing. This letter will be acknowledged within three working days. Formal complaints must be reported the local governing body. The local governing body must then be kept informed about progress and outcomes. This letter should provide details such as relevant dates, times, and the names of witnesses of events, alongside copies of any relevant documents. The complainant should also state what they feel would resolve the complaint.
For more details visit our website.
