Insight Centre for Data Analytics, National University of Ireland, Galway

Ali Hasnain is a Post Doctoral Researcher at Insight Centre for Data Analytics (NUIG), (formerly: Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), Galway Ireland). Before joining DERI, Hasnain completed a Master Degree in "Engineering and Management of Information Systems" from Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, Stockholm Sweden. He received another Master Degree from the same University in "Project Management and Operational Development". Along with the research activities he was been involved in Teaching and Research and Development activities at KTH as well as couple of years of industrial experience.

Ali Hasnain is the Program Committee Member of different international workshops e.g, VOILA at ISWC and conferences e.g, KESW . Moreover he has been involved in organising different workshops and tutorial e.g. at K-Cap 2015 and SWAT4LS 2015 for international audiences. His current research interests include: Linked Open Data Big Data, Semantic Models, Data Cataloguing and Linking, Semantic Matching and Relatedness, Link Discovery, Visual Query Formulation, Data Provenance and Data Integration.


Dr Oya Beyan

Fraunhofer FIT, RWTH Aachen University

Dr Oya D. Beyan is a post-doctoral researcher at the Information Systems chair (Informatik 5) at RWTH Aachen University and Fraunhofer FIT Institute. She received her MS degrees in Information Systems in 2005, and Sociology in 2010 and PhD degree in Medical Informatics from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. She worked as Assist. Prof. in Department of Computer Engineering in Atilim University, Ankara, Turkey. Later she worked as postdoctoral researcher in the INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics (NUI Galway, Ireland) where she established personalized medicine division. She participated in various EU project in e health domain including FP7 SIFEM, FP7 Linked2Safety and H2020 Mario, Polycare and Picaso projects. Dr. Beyan's main research interests include application of semantic web technologies and big data analytics to personalized health and wellness domain. Her main areas of expertise are knowledge representation and reasoning, data mining, and clinical information systems.




Prof. Dr Stefan Decker

RWTH Aachen University, Fraunhofer FIT

Prof. Stefan Decker holds a dual appointment as Professor for Information Systems at RWTH Aachen University and Director of Fraunhofer FIT, a research institute within the Fraunhofer Society with about 130 staff and an annual turnover approx. 12 M Euro.

Prof. Decker a degree in Computer Science from the University of Kaiserslautern and a PhD from the University of Karlsruhe. He has held positions at University of Karlsruhe, Stanford University and the University of Southern California.

Between 2005-2015 he was the Director of the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), Galway, Ireland (130 Staff) (until June 2013, transitioned into the Insight Centre for Data Analytics) and the Professor for Digital Enterprise at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG). As the Director of DERI he was responsible for 130 Staff, organised in 10 research groups with an annual turnover of 6 Million Euro. According to Google Scholar he has an H-Index of 63 with more than 19000 citations.



Prof Dr. Dietrich Rebholz-Schuhmann (Workshop Chair) (rebholz['at']insight-centre.org)

Insight Centre for Data Analytics, National University of Ireland, Galway

Prof. Dr. D. Rebholz-Schuhmann is a medical doctor and a computer scientist. Currently, he is established chair for data analytics at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and the director of the Insight Center for Data Analytics in Galway. His research is positioned in semantic technologies in the biomedical domain. In his previous research he has established large-scale on-the-fly biomedical text mining solutions and has contributed to the semantic normalisation in the biomedical domain. He has published more than 170 publications including contributions to high-profile journals, has been contributing to community efforts (e.g., ECCB steering committee), and is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Biomedical Semantics. The Insight Centre for Data Analytics in Galway has about 115 employees, is located in a dedicated building on campus and is supported by NUI Galway.

Dietrich's main research interests are biomedical informatics, literature analysis, ontologies, Semantic Web and Information representation. Dietrich's Google Scholar profile claims more than 3830 citations with h-index of 37
