Motion Graphics

The Motion Graphics course focuses on expanding the scope of modern visual design from static planes to dynamic temporal dimensions, cultivating convergent expressive abilities that seamlessly integrate design, technology, and narrative. Inheriting the historical context of the 1920s Weimar Bauhaus experimental films and their abstract formal principles of points, lines, and planes—alongside the cinematic title sequences pioneered by Saul Bass in the 1950s—the curriculum deeply explores how typography and imagery gain vitality within a digital environment across the temporal axis. Beyond merely increasing proficiency in video editing techniques, students acquire professional directorial capabilities to guide viewer attention and evoke emotional resonance by projecting the physical grammar of motion, such as the twelve principles of animation, onto the design process. Specifically, by navigating the entire production pipeline from storyboard planning to sound integration and rendering, students cultivate strategic thinking as "designers of time," while simultaneously securing the convergent insight necessary to thrive as creative directors in a future media ecosystem driven by AI and interactive media. Through this comprehensive process, students emerge as visual narrative experts capable of responding flexibly to a shifting media landscape while continuing to manifest enduring formal values. 

모션 그래픽스 수업은 현대 시각 디자인의 영역을 정적인 평면에서 동적인 시간의 영역으로 확장하여 디자인과 테크놀로지, 그리고 서사가 결합된 융합적 표현 능력을 함양하는 것을 핵심적인 개요로 삼고 있습니다. 본 수업은 1920년대 바이마르 바우하우스에서 시도된 실험 영화와 점·선·면의 추상적 조형 원리, 그리고 1950년대 사울 바스가 개척한 영화 오프닝 타이틀의 역사적 맥락을 현대적 디지털 환경으로 계승하여 타이포그래피와 이미지가 시간 축 위에서 어떻게 생명력을 얻는지를 심도 있게 탐구합니다. 학생들은 단순히 영상 편집 기술의 숙련도를 높이는 것을 넘어 애니메이션의 12원칙과 같은 움직임의 물리적 문법을 디자인 프로세스에 투영함으로써 시청자의 시선을 유도하고 정서적 공감을 이끌어내는 전문적인 연출 역량을 습득하게 됩니다. 특히 스토리보드 기획부터 사운드 결합, 렌더링에 이르는 제작 파이프라인 전체를 경험하며 시간을 설계하는 디자이너로서의 전략적 사고를 기르는 동시에, AI와 인터랙티브 미디어가 주도하는 미래 미디어 생태계에서도 창의적 디렉터로서의 전문성을 발휘할 수 있는 융합적 안목을 확보하는 것을 최종적인 목적으로 합니다. 이러한 일련의 과정을 통해 학생들은 변화하는 매체 환경에 유연하게 대응하면서도 변치 않는 조형적 가치를 구현할 수 있는 시각 서사 전문가로 거듭나게 됩니다.
