Hello ILCS Families! My name is Mrs. Ferris and I have been working as the 7th grade History teacher at ILCS for the past 9 years. Prior to that, I taught history at the high school level for 11 years. I also have 2 boys that have both gone through Inland Leaders from Kinder through 8th grade, so I know this school well.
After teaching history for the past 19 years, I’ve learned that it is filled with triumphs and struggles, the strive for power and the willingness to help the common good. It is the story of the world we live in and the people we live with. In 7th grade, I will be teaching your children about the rise and fall of the world’s largest empires during the Middle Ages. While in 8th grade, we will be focusing on the foundation of our nation and critical democratic principles with early American history. We will be studying various perspectives and beliefs to uncover the stories of the past. I will challenge your students to think through these differences in order to better understand the peoples and cultures of this world and how they best fit into it.
