SUBJ: School Closure for duration of 2019-2020 school year
Today, Governor Abbot extended the closure of Public schools. The Governor decided to extend the closure of school buildings for in-person classroom attendance for the duration of the 2019-20 school year. This in no way ends at-home instructional support for Ingleside ISD’s students.
The Governor also stated that, “School districts across Texas have worked diligently to make the transition to virtual learning. Students must continue to receive daily academic support from their teachers and schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.
“Thank you to our superintendents, principals, and teachers for their leadership in ensuring that academic progress continues during this unprecedented public health crisis. We fully support your efforts.”
Ingleside ISD administrators, teacher and staff will continue to serve our students through May 21 st. Students who have not completed their assignments (Incomplete work), and that are failing, will be automatically enrolled in summer school.
Our administration have been in the process of planning summer graduation ceremonies for our seniors. We are also trying to include as many of the other traditions that we typically celebrate this time of the year.
Free Breakfast and lunch will be available from 11:00 A.M -1:00 P.M. throughout our school closure for all students to pick up at the Ingleside Primary School. We have two Wi-Fi hotspot areas. One is in the High School student parking lot and the other is at the IPS parking lot.
We are also taking advantage of this time to update facilities across the district so when we will be ready for the 2020-21 school year.
I want to let everyone know that our school district is continuing to educate your students. I am so proud of what our teachers and staff have been able to accomplish while we have been out and I am thankful for the sacrifices you are making to help us educate your children. We miss the sounds of the kids’ voices in our hallways and someday soon, we will be able to hear those voices again.
Stay Safe, Stay Apart, and Stay Strong Mustangs!!
