About the Instructor:
My journey to The Wilson Talent Center began in 6th grade when a visionary English teacher encouraged me to capitalize on my interest in First Aid and my passion for sports to learn about the newly developing field of Sports Medicine as the topic of a "What I Want to Be When I Grow Up" paper. That suggestion eventually lead to a Bachelors Degree in Sports Medicine from Central Michigan University in 1993, a stint with a professional minor league hockey team, 21 years at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso serving in multiple roles such as Community Outreach Athletic Trainer at Laingsburg High School/Senior Athletic Trainer in the out-patient clinic for 13 years and then another 8 years heading the Health & Wellness program. In 2017 a desire to return to working with high school students, an interest to share my long-standing passion for Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and varied healthcare experiences lead to an Instructor position at The Wilson Talent Center. The unique and exciting challenge of developing a new Career and Technical Education offering for Ingham Intermediate School District's Wilson Talent Center resulted in the first Therapeutic Services/Sports Medicine class beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. My goal is to share my enthusiasm for Sports Medicine and prepare students to become high-quality coworkers that I would be proud to work alongside and capable healthcare workers I would want caring for me someday.
