OUR WHY

In Lares, Puerto Rico, an abandoned school serves as home to a dozen families displaced by Hurricane Maria. These families lived without power for months. Take a minute to imagine what that is like. When the sun went down, their day was over.

Their children’s study and play hours were cut short. Their diets were limited to nonperishable foods. They couldn’t power critical medical devices for their sick or elderly loved ones. That all changed when they turned on one of our portable solar power systems. We were humbled by their reaction to the simple sound of a refrigerator compressor firing up—they clapped; they hugged; they cried. And when the earthquakes of 2020 struck, they were prepared.

These families define Mission Rise Foundation (MRF). We believe in the limitless potential of every person on Earth. Whatever their circumstance, we believe in their ability to rise above it. To fully realize that potential, we need power. Power connects us, moves us, and enables us to accomplish more—it is a catalyst for advancement. Power brings education, livelihood, and healthcare wherever it is present. With clean, renewable, and portable power, we are free to write our own story without limitation. We are empowered to rise above our circumstances. This is why we are Mission Rise.
