Mrs. Whitaker

6th Grade Teacher

Hi! I am Amanda Whitaker and I have been teaching in the Independence School District since 2004. For the first few years in the district, I taught in the middle school. In 2010, I began teaching elementary, and working with 6th grade students became a big passion of mine. I really love teaching 6th grade and helping my students strive to be their best.

For schooling, I graduated from Cedar Falls High School and from U.N.I. with an education degree. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to travel to Italy, Austria, and Kenya. I love incorporating my experiences into my teaching.

My husband and I have been a part of the Independence community for several years and love that our two kids are growing up here too. When we aren't busy in town, we love to go hiking, fishing and canoeing in the area and in Minnesota.
