13th European Symposium on Saproxylic Ecology  

On behalf of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, it is our pleasure to announce that ESSE 2027 will be held just outside of Oslo, Norway 12-14th of May 2027.  

Venue: 

ESSE2027 will be at Sørmarka Conference Hotel, which is situated by a small lake in the boreal forest and close to Østmarka National park. We hope that everyone will stay at Sørmarka Conference Hotel, where we will have lunch and dinner served. However, it is also possible to find accommodation elsewhere. Rooms and meals at the venue will be booked through conference registration at the end of 2026. A rough estimate for an all-inclusive stay (meals and accommodation at site) with arrival on the 11th of May is 9000 NOK or 790 EUR.  

Conference fee: 

We are applying for funds to cover parts of the conference fee. More information will follow.

13th of May: 

09:00: Parallel sessions 

11:00: Lunch excursion to the university campus in Ås,  

where you get to make and bring your own traditional Norwegian “matpakke”. 

14:00: Parallel sessions 

19:00: Conference dinner  

14th of May: 

Excursion to the nearby Østmarka National Park. Departure from the hotel in the morning. After the excursion, the buses leave the national park at 15:00.
