Launched on December 9th, 2021 on a SpaceX rocket, the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) is an international collaboration between NASA and the Italian Space Agency (ASI).Â
It is the first satellite to take X-ray polarimetry measurements since the Eighth Orbiting Solar Observatory (OSO-8) mission back in 1975, but with a sensitivity 100 times larger.
This revolutionary space mission is effectively opening a new window to the Universe!
