The conference will be held at the Calaserena Resort, in Geremeas (CA), on the beautiful island of Sardinia (Italy), where we expect to host all participants. Full board accommodation at a special rate (125 euro in double room for single usage, 78 euro per person in double room) is granted to conference participants booking and making a 10% deposit within May 7. After that date the rooms in the block booking will be limited to 100 (total) until June 7, to 80 until July 7 and to 50 until July 31. Note that the rooms are fully refundable until August 14. We warmly recommend, therefore, that you make you reservation at the earliest. September in Sardinia is still high season!
Please use the booking form here (english / italian) to book your room at Calaserena.
The Calaserena hotel organises a Mini Club for children 3 to 12 years old, as well as baby sitting service for infants younger than 3, during the conference hours. Childcare expenses will be covered through the INAF Gender Equality Plan* for up to 15 children and two infants (on a first-come first-served basis). Please, indicate your childcare needs in the registration form.
To get to Sardinia, the best way is to fly to Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and then take a separate ticket to Cagliari (CAG) with Aeroitalia. Since Aeroitalia (and most other airlines flying to Cagliari) does not operate flights in code sharing with other international airlines, you will have to get your luggages in Rome and do the check-in to Cagliari separately. Therefore, it is advisable that you allow ample time in Rome between the two flights. Alternatively, you can fly to Milan Malpensa (MXP) and get a low-cost flight to Cagliari (either with Ryanair, Easyjet or Neos). There are a few flights to Cagliari operated by Lufthansa, Vueling and Austrian airlines, so you may find some direct connection with your international flights through Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna or Barcellona, but they don't run every day.
We are organising transportation to get to the hotel from the Cagliari airport for the 21st and the 26th (and/or 27th). Please fill this form by September 1st to allow us to organise transportation at the best. We will publish a timetable shortly after the deadline.
Participants traveling on different dates (or participants who have not filled the form by the deadline) can reach the hotel by train + bus. The Cagliari Elmas airport is connected to Cagliari city with an average of 3 trains per hour. You can check the Trenitalia timetables clicking here. The airport stop (about 5 minutes walk from the arrival hall) is called "Elmas Aeroporto". There is an automatic ticket vending machine in the arrival hall and three more at the station. The train reaches Cagliari (the final stop of the journey) in about 7 minutes. The Cagliari train station is on the same square (Piazza Matteotti) as the ARST bus station. From there you can catch the ARST bus 101, with destination "Villasimius - Costa Rei - San Vito", to Geremeas. There are two possible bus stops ("Cantoniera Geremeas" or "SP17 Country Club"), both about 10-15 minutes walk from the Calaserena hotel (clicking on the names of the stops will open a map with directions to the hotel). The bus takes about 1 hour to reach Geremeas.

* The Gender Equality Plan is a programmatic document that identifies and introduces actions that favour the reduction of gender asymmetries, and allow, at the same time, the valorisation of all the diversities linked, for example, to the variables age, culture, physical ability, sexual orientation, political and/or religious belief, multilingualism. Thanks to the enthusiastic work by the GEP team, INAF now has an internal GEP, which contains dedicated lines of action aimed at reducing the gender gap.
Among the GEP planned initiatives are those for childcare, and we wish to thank INAF and the GEP team for their generous sponsorship which has allowed us to organise the Pulsar 2025 childcare service.
